What surnames are you researching? Capers, Fleming, Berg, Glaesman and others What is your favorite song? True Love (B. Crosby and G. Kelly) and Almost anything Rosie Clooney sang Comments:
I stumbled onto your page thru a search for descendants of Caleb Gabriel Capers, son of James Hixson Capers. My paternal grandmother Margaret married John Blair Capers. The Capers family has a lengthy history of Christian ministry. My dad, Reverend Capers, was born in Tarrant County, TX and Mom was born in OK but met at Bible School in Calif in the early 1940s.
My mother's folks were Germans-from-Russia immigrants. The Glaesman family homesteaded in OK Territory, filing intent to become US citizens at Grand in Day County in 1903. Mom's father's "Berg" family were from the same settlement where the Glaesmans came from in Russia. Some Glaesman and Berg children moved to California after they "blew-out in the dust-bowl" and, "never came back," while others stayed in Oklahoma and Texas. Mom was a little girl when her parents packed up the Ford with all 6 children and their belongings in the car and on the roof and running boards. They pulled the mattresses off the roof of the car at night and slept beside the road. They cooked their meals there, too. When my grandparents were children their families made their way to OKLA by covered ox-wagon with barrels of water, crackers and hard sausages lashed to the sides, making meals off them all the way there. So, neither "camping out" nor "starting over" were anything new to them.
I'd love to hear from you and how you fit into the "Capers" picture.

Hi,
A lot has happened to us all since I first found this family treasure on late '06. To all of us, of course. I think I've told you how much appreciated you are and all your work is, but I'll just say it again. To find my father's mother's picture on the William Henegar Black page was and still is a fulfilling tug at my heart. To see all the family links is just another example of the "Seven Degrees of Separation" concept I keep finding no matter where I turn.
To find that another family is linked to me by a long ago friend I was raised with that married one of the families in this massive set just blows my mind again and again each time I consider it. I staye3d with her and her Mom when my Dad was away and I couldn't go with him. I just found and reconnected with her (and her husband) after 43 years. I'm being a bit cryptic about her so as to not reveal anything she would prefer to keep private about her life or family. We were the best of friends, the worst of enemies and have loved each other as brother and sister all these years.
Thank you again for the means to add meaning to an otherwise difficult and separated life.

Hi,
My wife is from Mangum,Ok , your neighbor.
I was looking up Clement Walter (Waltler) and found Charolette Walter, 1790. She is a sister to Elizabeth Walter Who married John Pruitt (this is my line). I see from your info that Charolette married Reuben Lancaster, and their son Clement Lancaster (1805-1873) married Sarah Pruitt (1815-1890) . Sarah was the daughter of Adenston Pruitt. Clement and Adenston Pruitt were brothers, both sons of Willis Pruitt, VA. -- Lots more in store They trace back to Sir Robert Dudley, England who was Queen Elizabeth's 'good friend'.

Well, I am a descendant of his brother, Meshach.
Did you know that Shadrach, Meshach and their brother Abednego, were acquainted with Daniel Boone.
They were on a scouting party looking for new land for settlers , and had bedded down for the night in a cave, near Nashville TN. when a band of Indians attacked them,
My Grandfather Meshach died there, Shadrach & Abednego were injured but survived their wounds.

Found your Web Site using my great great grandfather's name Jefferson Moats. I am his descendant through his daughter, Ollie Mae (Moats) Ewing, through Her daughter Iva May (Ewing) Thompson who was my mother. Thanks for the great information I found about the Oldham family. When I was in First grade I use to stay with Greatgrandmother Mary Frances (Oldham) Moats andshe would tell me stories of how her Father was in the Civil War and came home with hiis feet all bloody and in rags. She would tell how her Father and his brothers left Tenn. to move to Texas. As she told it, they lost all the family records while crossing a flooded river, possibly the Red River. Afterwards the brothers got in an argument about how to spell their name and split up. My branch left theothers and went north to Missouri where she met and married Jefferson(JD) Moats. From what I found here it seems the others didremain in Texas. Mary Fraances died around 1939 in San Juan, TX after J.D. moved to the Rio Grande Valley and settled. Hope this is of interest to you. Eddie Thompson

I had to think a second about the 50's question, as I wasn't born until 1956 but thanks to my folks, I've had 3 generations of music. My favorite though is Country!!! and yes, I'm a country girl.
As for your web site, you've done a wonderful job! It gives me a few ideas for one that I may plan in the future.
I stumble onto your web site because of Abraham Caldwell, son of James Leander Caldwell and Cynthia Jane Noles. Cynthia was my 2nd cousin, 3 times removed. I'm trying to do the entire tree and your info has helped me a great deal. Feel free to write me if you need info on Cynthia's line. I've got it back to the early 1800s, where all of us Noles researchers are sitting on the perverbial brick wall.

I am researching my father's side of the family. I have done extremely well with my mother's side, so now it's time to find some missing links on the other side.
Trying to get above John William Harvey (husband of Martha Adeline Seabourn) in the Harvey line. Martha's father had a brother George Washington Seabourn that married a Harvey (Martha) in Tenn. They all moved to Texas around Montague and Collin counties. And then my gGrandmother marries a Harvey in the same place. Seems like Martha Harvey and Martha Seabourn have a connection somewhere there.
Thanks

My great-great grandmother is Cynthia Mathews, born 1844 in MS. I believe she is a daughter of W. C. Mathews, and appears on the 1850 and 1860 Choctaw Co. censuses as Sarah C. Mathews. She married Thomas S. Norris after 1860, had five children, and died before 1880. She is on the 1870 census listed as "Centha" Norris. This Norris family had land dealings with the sons of W.C. Mathews--with James P., I believe. They lived very close to W. C. Mathews in 1880. Can't prove the connection, but I am still looking. Would love to know more about the W.C. Mathews family.

I am a great granddaughter of Thadeus, brother to Ephriam Porter Perrin. I have looked in vain for information on Salmon's or sometimes refered to as "Solomon" wife. He signed some land records as Salmon. I believe her name to be Dania, not Doris, according to some papers I have that Thadeus' son filled out to apply for gov't pension for his mother, Mary Cassel Perrin. I have seen her last name given with several variations. I'm not sure at this point which one is correct. What evidence have you found on her name? There was only a brief statement in the N. English paper when she died--no obituary. Even the death records for Iowa County do not help in determining her name. Just one of my brick walls. I really enjoyed your web site. Rosamond Goodlander

Trying to trace my maternal family of Morrows. William Daniel Morrow b. 1849 Tenn d.1908 Tx. was married to a Mary Jane Patton b. 1854 they had five children before she died and one was my maternal grandfather William Hugh Morrow b.1878 Tx d. 1957 Tx. Ellis county. William Daniel Morrow then married a Sarah Teafitller of Waxahachie, Tx and had six or seven more children. Have always felt that Mary Jane Patton was from Texas. William Morrows family moved to Collin county Texas , I don't know what year, our Morrow branch has pretty much stayed in Ellis county area, my mother was born in Ok. So they lived in Ok. at least once, mother4 was born in 1916 near Lawton. Her older brother Roy Morrow would go to Ok to visit relatives after they came back to Texas. William Hugh Morrow married Ida Lemmer Rinehart ( my maternal grandparents). Hope you have some info that will help me as I would like to know more about Mary Jane Patton line. Will be happy to share Morrow info. Thanks, Sharion

Joseph P. Matthews (my G Uncle was married to Francis Viola Patton. Also I have a cousin that lived (may still be) in Pampa named E.H. and Gene Patton(1st cousin's I believe). I ran across your posting on the Roots Web and was wondering if I could have a copy of your ged file to add more info to ny genealogy file here? A lot of the patton line and others will be related to the matthews by the afore metioned name. I am deveolping and exstensive a database as I can and will be putting up a page before too long. I have information on the matthews that go back to the 1760's to the present. I am trying to set up branches to all family names that I can, so if you can send me a gedcom file I would greatly appreciate it and if there is any information that I can send you jsut let me know.
