I have had an interest in german-speaking Lutherans and attended Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio where
Dr. Hahn taught.
I recently found out that Dr. Hahn's father was the minister at St. James Lutheran Church in Concord, NC and later a professor at the Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC.
All of this is interesting to me because I can see the family into which, Hilary Hahn, the violinist, was born.
I have a long family association with the Lutheran Church and many pastors in the family.

On Ancestry.com you are a contributor to Daniel Hawn information and Melvina Smith (Daniel's wife). Do you know who the parents of Melvina Smith are? It lists William Smith and Malinda Berry. Is this the same Malinda Berry who is the daughter of Hiram Berry, Sr.? The Malinda Berry that married Alford Watts? Or are there TWO Malinda's who married TWO different William Smiths? I am interested in what information you can tell me.

I've been told by a genealogist, history lib. one county south of jefferson, Ky. to keep an eye out for your Peter Hahn. My GGgrandfather, Worden Pope ("W.P.")Hahn was born 1816 Louisville, Ky., died 16Dec1878 Louisville. 1860 & 1870 census he listed the value of his realestate at $200,000. I've been able to locate some of his living grandchildren and they do not know his parents or siblings. Their family lore is that an older brother brought W.P. to Louisville from Pennsylvania. My line is through Andrew Baldorser, who married Eva Hahn. The Baldorser name was spelld many ways in NC, probably because of the German accent, PolTasser, Baldaser, etc. They moved from NC into VA and then on to IN.

My maternal grandparents were Elijah Cornelious Hahn and Sarah Ellen Welker. Elijah's parents were John J. Hahn and Lucinda Stroder. On this website you have John J. Hahn married to Sarah Ellen Welker and that is incorrect.
My grandparents died in 1973 and 1974 and I remember them well. John and Lucinda had 12 children and I remember all of them also. I have a very good picture of the entire family when they were young. I would be happy to share all information that I have.

I have my family recorded from PA thru New Hamburg, Ontario, back to Alsfeld, Hessen, Germany - back to 1555. There are a blue thousand of us, including one Jacob Gustav Hahn, son of Dielemans. Jacob died in Eaton, WI after 1870. He had 4 children, including a Johann George, born in Germany in 1840. Another son, August, had ten children, six born in WI -- all died in WI.

My family is from FULDA / Hesse .Oldest I have is Heinrich HAHN married Gertrud HEINFELD in Dompfarrei Fulda. Children : Antonius 1806 , Nicolaus 1808 , Johannes Cyriacus 1811 , Laurentius 1814.
Nikolaus (different spelling) HAHN married 10 Oct. 1850 Eva ROEMISCH as his second wife.
Children : Ida Theresia 1848 , Nicolaus Heinrich 1851 , Sidona Theresia 1856.
I have no idea where the family came from originally ,but as far as I know they all stayed in Germany.

My family lived in Washington County Indiana. Henry Hawn came here about 1810. He was from North Carolina. John Hawn and Charles Hawn were living next door to him from 1840's to 1860's. John was my ancestor and I think he is somehow related to Henry since they lived next to each other.
