I have just completed cleaning out my mother-in law's basement/house. Her name is Maxine Reinertson. She has lived all her life in Vancouver, had a business there, parents, and grandparents had businesses and built a house on Evergreen that was just burned down for the new library. I found several photos and treasures I feel would be an asset to your museum. I have had surgery this past month and brought them all to my home in Rochester Wa. I will be going through boxes in the next few months and would like my husbands family remembered for their contributions to the community. His mother is still living and has documented most photos. Her family home may be one of the ones unknown on Evergreen. Was anything saved? She was heartbroken to hear the home her Grandfather built was burned down. I'd like to find her a piece of the house to give to her. She had inherited it from her Grandmother and lived there as a child. She knows just about everyone in town and would be someone to talk to to get info. She's still living in Vancouver at a retirement community. They owned Morris Appliances. Her husband died in the Blue Mountains while Elk Hunting in the 60's. Big write up in the Columbian then. Many photos are from the 20's and before. I can also be called at (360)481-6301. She threw nothing away!!

I was born in Vancouver in 1941 and raised in Vancouver. I have been doing genealogy for 5 years in earnest as I inherited my parents and grandparents photos, documents, etc.I have early photos of Sara area as my g.grandparents came out west in 1905 and never left. They are buried at the Sara Cemetery. My cousin had family postcards from the early 1900's that her Mother or my aunt had. I have several things you might interested in of photos I have and the postcards. One of the cards was the territorial courthouse built in 1842. I don't know if it was in Clark Co or not for sure. My paternal ancestors came out from Michigan circa 1900 era.

Hello! Being a fellow genealogist your group was one I am quering for my English cousin about how to locate passenger lists along the coast from San Francisco to Astoria or Portland circa 1880 thru 1900. We believe the ships carried passangers with freight and families migrated around the horn or whatever via Texas to California and up to Oregon and Wasihngton territory.
This would be a great help to many researchers who are stumped as to how their families got to Oregon and Washington territories by ship.
The reports from friends say you have an excellent group!

I was helped so much last week with my Arley Lewis brick wall, I'm going to try another one. Looking for the father of our Charles Lyman Allen. Charles was born in Ohio, in 1847. The only clue we have is the marriage license that we found from LaCross, Wisconsin of Charles Lyman Allen (Charles is a merchant in Winona, Winona, MN) and Anna J. Muir in 1872. Charles' parents are listed as Samuel and Eliza Allen. In the 1900 census in Jackson co., MO for Charles, he lists his parents as being born in NH and VT.
We find a Saumuel, born NH abt 1803 in Wisconsin (Clifton, Monroe) in 1870 married to a Rachel A. (born Ohio, abt. 1823 with a son Ethan, born abt.1862. We think we can follow them to Michigan in 1880. Samuel appears to be a blacksmith. That's as far as I can take it, either way. No Allens seem to be able to help us. We got some death records from Michigan for a Samuel and Rachel Allen, but the birth dates don't work. We think Samuel might have been married at least two times, maybe more.
Thank you so much for all of the previous help. Mary Helen Allen

I belong to the Grayson Co., Virginia Historical Society. I am researching mainly the Nuckolls surname. An older lady had showed me some old post cards that was post marked from Vancouver by my uncle Robert Lee Nuckolls that was in the military there around 1909. Robert was courting her mother while stationed there. I am working on my family tree and Robert Nuckolls eventually settled in Texas and I recently found his tombstone a few months ago where he and his wife where buried. He never returned home because of family problems and no one ever heard from him. I want to find his family. Cannot find any descendants in Texas yet. Two of his brothers settled in Ca and one in Ill. Was hoping to find something on him while he was stationed there. Appreciate any feedback.

Hi, I'm looking for any information concerning a military garrison in Clark County in 1860. My great, great, grandfather was stationed there at the time, and I'm curious just where exactly it was. He's listed there in the 1860 Federal census. He's actually listed again a few months later, in the Colville Valley, Spokane Territory, as an escort to "military road expedition under comand of Gn. John William.
Any information about the garrison would be greatly appreciated. It sounds like a very exciting time to have been in the area.
Thanks,
Jeff
