Individuals you are looking for James McKemie 1600s
Comments:
I am looking for proof that the McKimmy family was from & a part of the Fraser Clan. The date of birth I have for him is not the same as the 11th Lord Lovat, which is close. Some of the family research does not match up with the historical information I have found so far. I am trying to justify it with historical records. My husband, Gary's mother is Doris Mae McKimmy. Her parents were Lawrence McKimmy & Hazel Mae Smith of Beaverton, Michigan. I would also like to find and connect to the McKimmey relatives in the Carolinas. Thank you.

Individuals you are looking for McCameys and Harrises
Comments:
The McCamys/Mckemies and Harrises/Herries go back to Ayrshire Scotland. Many families went from Ayrshire to Ulster and then to Lancaster, PA together including the Pickens, McCalls, Calhouns, Alexanders etc and moved South to Cecil, MD then Mecklenburg, NC and Long Cane, South Carolina. After the Revolution many of these allied families moved into the Territory South of French Broad which was later Tennessee. My family moved from Blount, TN down to Murray, Georgia and you will find many descendants there today. Mackemies became McCamys in the Tennessee line. The Harrises are descendants of Edward Harris and Flora Douglas of the famed Scottish border Douglases. WOuld love to share info with anyone researching this family. Individuals you are looking for Steele's
Comments:
Your site is crammed full of information and I really enjoyed reading it. I am a member of the Steele family and have been researching them for about 10 years.
Many of my ancestors lived in Eastern Kentucky, but I don't know if they have ties to your Steele's.

Individuals you are looking for George Makemie
Comments:
My mother is a McCamy from Scottsboro, Alabama. Their lineage was traced to George Makemie, who immigrated from Northern Ireland (most likely Donegal) to the Waxhaus region of South Carolina which today is the "metro" Charlotte, NC. George Makemie was married to a sister of Andrew Jackson's mother. Robert Remini, Professor of History at the University of Illinois - Chicago, documented the clans who immigrated with the Jacksons from Northern Ireland.

Amdrew Jackson's birthplace is still disputed, however, Jackson himself believed that he was born in George Makemie's cabin.

If you have more information on George Makemie, especially any relationship to Franics Makemie, it would be appreciated. Additionally, I hold a master's degree in Early American History from Syracuse University, let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Regards,

Greg Lee

Individuals you are looking for Samuel McKemie
Comments:
IN Illinois 1830, possibly in 1820 census in Edwards county, (which was several counties now broken up) Daughter or wife, Serena, sons in Civil War, William Wesley, James, John R. There are many descendants in Franklin County, Illinois, and a "McKemie" graveyard which is a civil war graveyard. However, I cannot located where Samuel came from. Perhaps Greene County Tenn??? Any info would be appreciated, such as siblings names, parents of Samuel.
Thanks Paula
