I honestly can't believe what I've just found on this website!! I am a descendant of the Converse's in Vermont and I have a authentic map from 1871 with my Great, Great, Great Grandfather George Converse's Homestead on it and it is about five miles from where I live today!! I found the map in an antique store and saw that I had three relitives on it and it sent chills down my spine. It also has George's Father- Henry or (Heman) Converse's Homestead on it as well!! Just to know that I descended from such a influencial family is incredible!!

I am from the Deacon Edward Converse Family. My research is very small but am trying to get it together for my 83 year old mother, Patricia C (Converse) Zahn before she is gone from us forever! My grandfather was Wilber Hudson Converse, Jr, his father Wilber H Sr, his father before him was Wilber (ur) Converse Born to Squire and Mercy Phillips, Squire, the son of Parley and Sally Ketch, son of Jeremiah and Rhoda Converse (his cousin), he was the son of Capt Pain, Son of Pain and Mary Halford, son of Samuel and Dorcas, son of Sergt Samuel, son of Deacon E. Wliber, son of Squire supposedly died in New Orleans about 2 months before Wilber H Sr was born or when he was 2 Months old in 1878.
I have been using the Family tree Book written by Charles Allen Converse, published by Putnam, 1905. I also used the Book by Mr Hill, 1887 so, the Road to Royalty Broken is something I am interested in. It seems to have put me off course a bit. I have a handwritten list of family members but I cannot tell who belongs to who. This would be the Roger De Coigners Family. Is Mr Kurth related to the Convers/e families? If so, I would like to correspond with him about his findings. My Great Aunt Muriel is still living in Maine and she is the last surviving child of Wilber Hudson Converse, Sr and Maude Harper Converse, who had 8 children.
I love your website!!!! Thank you for having it here for us to see, use and question, photos and all!

Actually, I am researching the descendants of Edward Winn, one of the original settlers of Woburn in the Massachusetts Bay Colony; I am doing this for a friend, Wallace "Wally" Winn who is a descendant of the Jacob Winns, Quakers, who eventually came to Ontario, Canada. Wally's branch landed up in Port Colborne, Ontario.
It has been, and continues to be, a wild and interesting journey, the information of which I have garnered is going into a booklet, of sorts, and will be Wally's Christmas present.
Altho' I have read that the early Winn and Converse families were intertwined, as far back as England, I, unfortunately, didn't find any Winns on your site.
I have enjoyed your site tremendously. So much information and very well displayed. I like looking at other family web sites to get some ideas on how I will created my own family, Holdgate-Hubbard (done by me for the very first time), website.
Thank you for the pleasant read.

I'm glad to find this website. My Mom's father was Arthur Blinn Converse, and her family had a lot of handwritten information on the early American Converse family. So, when I hit this site I knew I'd found family.
My mother's maiden name was Leta Colleen Converse, born March 1, 1916 in Livingston, Montana. She was the daughter of Arthur Blinn Converse and Mayme Martin. Arthur Blinn was the son of Clayton Gardner Converse. I found their names on this site. I would like to add the rest of us. Let me know how to do so.

Thank you. After several years of trying to determine the connection between Dorland Converse to my Losee (Losie) family, my theory of a possible grandson became evident after stumbling across your wonderful web site. Dorland's grandparents are Joseph Losee and Eleanor (Ellen) Ackerman. The Losee family can be traced back to Dutchess County, New York.

Read with interest the Madison County biographies since that is where I have lived all my life. There were some typos I noticed, primarily Dr. Jeremiah Converse having been born in 1822 and commencing school in 1814. The Converses are a precocious family. Anyway, this is a wonderful website. Keep up the excellent work.

I am the eighth generation from Deacon Edward. We have the Charles Allen Converse history (which includes my grandfather Sibley Converse) so we were able to trace the family history that way. I also have a book by Henry Smith Chapman entitled History of Winchester Massachusetts (1936) which has a chapter on the Converse and Richardson families - I'll try to put it on the web if no one else has done so already.
My husband is English and we live in Scotland, so my opportunities to trace the family in the USA are limited, but when I retire (another 4 years) I will try to find some of the places the family came from on this side of the Atlantic. Any hints where to look?

Fantastic site. In going through some old things given to me by my parents when they cleaned out their attic, I found a 10 generation Converse family tree, that seem to correspond with Charles's book. My great aunt (Marguerite Drake) married Thomas Converse (1908-1981), and I was trying to link him into the Converse family tree, but I don't know who his father was. Any ideas?
Thanks for all of your hard work!

I have only recently discovered my direct lineage to Deacon Edward Convers. Converse is my maiden name. If Edward is the #1 Generation, I am the 12th. The internet is amazing!! I am the also the great great granddaughter of Charles Porter Converse, b:21 Nov 1829 in Michigan. He came out to California during the Gold Rush and eventually claimed land in what is now the Sequoia National Forest. That area is known as Converse Basin. If you go to Kings Canyon or Sequoia National Park, Converse Basin is beautiful.

My wife Margaret is a descandent of the Converse line. We have recently visted the LDS library in Salt Lake and did some research on the family. We came across the data compiled by Charles Allen Converse and published in 1905 in Boston Mass. THe two volumes had a lot of great references and facts but your site is really a much improved version of this. Wonderful layout and really fun to look at all the links. Great job!!!

I am trying to make a definite link to Edward CONVERSE. My gggggrandfather, Ephraim FLAGG married Ruth CONVERSE in Wilmington, Middlesex Co., MA in 1757. Their marriage was recorded in both Woburn and Wilmington VRs. I believe Ruth was born about 1734 probably in Woburn, MA. She and Ephraim owned land partly in Woburn and partly in Wilmington, according to land deeds. They had two children recorded in Wilmington VRs: Gershom FLAGG, b: 3 June 1758 and Ebenezer FLAGG b: 28 Sept 1763. It is possible there was another son, Theodore, born ca 1775.
Ephraim and Ruth sold their land and moved to Reading for a short while then to Mason, NH where they joined their son Gershom, about 1796. Ephraim died in 1814 and Ruth died 2 Jan 1816 age 82.
I am trying to find the parents of Ruth. There were a great many Ruth CONVERSEs. I am sure there is a link to Edward CONVERSE, but to which son? Ephraim's son, Ebenezer FLAGG, married Rebecca SHELDON, daughter of Ephraim SHELDON and Eunice FELCH. Edward CONVERSE's daughter, Mary (according to his will) married a SHELDON, as well.
I would appreciate any help with this. Thank you. You can find info about my FLAGG family on my Mason, NH website.
