I would like to add that the post made Lovena Norton on 26 Jan 2003, is not 100% correct. #1. The information she has posted regarding the death of Greenbrier Cornstubble. According to his military records, they make no mention of his death occurring at a Confederate prison camp. The record only states that Cornstubble died near Nashville, TN from Typhoid. He could have been anywhere, on the battlefield, or at a makeshift hospital. So his death place is highly debateable. Also Ms. Norton refers to my ancestor Mary McConnaughhay having an affair with Greenbrier Cornstubble, I will not argue about that as it is possible, but to infer that her three children may have been his -- That's somewhat debateable. We have no idea where those children, one of which was my ancestor William Frank McConnaughhay, came from. They could have been anyone's children. What's important here is that Mary, not Polly, as all records name her as Mary McConnaughhay was their mother and by all accounts carried the McConnaughhay surname.

Very nice presentation. I am researching again after a few years. Have you investigated the older Scottish roots through the Bane family? James Bane comes directly from a line that includes Dunbars (shared grandmother with George Washington in Janet Dunbar), MalcolmII, and Duncan of Scotland, and then all the way back to Conn of the Hundred Battles 110 AD. Interesting family.

Hi, I am a MacGillivray from out of the Michigan area.
What I know is that my grand mother's father was James Hale MacGillivray, the first man to put the Paul Bunyan tales to print. He was originally from Canada (or it was his father who was). His father's father was the individual who came over from Scottland as I recall. James was the family name that seems to have been passed down through the family. I believe that my great-grandfather's father or grandfather was the mayor of a town just north of the border in Canada (just north of the Michigan area). James Hale MacGillivray was also know for his artwork, doing many sketches for the Audobon Society and there was an article about him in National Geogrphic in his older years when he raised to Bald Eagles. The article is called The Eagles of Oscoda. That is the town in Michigan that the MacGillivray family hales from generally speaking. We even have the family name on one of the pews in the church there, and the family home is a historical landmark.

Your site if very nice by the way. I appreciated viewing it.

I am searching for more information on my great grandmother's family. She was Marie Alwine Klausing, born November 24/25, 1860 in Missouri. Her parents were: Friederich Christian (or Christian Friederich) Klausing and Catherina Kamphoefner, both of whom were living in St. Charles Co. (near St. Louis) MO in the 1860's and 70's. He was a farmer and died before 1880. On the 1880 census, Marie Alwine was listed as a 19yr. old "daughter" living in the household of a H. Vahle because Catherina Kamphoefner Klausing had remarried. Marie Alwine's parents belonged to a German Evangelical church and lived in an area of Germans who came from the Hannover area. I can't find Friederich Christian Klausing's parents. Thank for the info you provide.

Date: 2003-08-11
Comments:
Here is the correct scaccia family tree from Salvatore Scaccia. I do not have all the date and names of spouses but here goes . . .
Salvatore Scaccia was in the group you listed as brother to Cosmo Scaccia etc.
Salvatore Scaccia married to ???
they had three children, Joseph, Vera, and "nini" ( you have her full name correct)

Salvatore's wife died giving birth to Nini.

Joseph Scaccia was born in 1906 - died 1986, and married Maime "Nell" Ferrara born 1910 - died 1998. (Mamie had a sister Mary Ferarra who married Frank Sarno). Joseph and Maime had two children, Joseph Scaccia Jr 1927-living, and Samuel Joseph Scaccia b1934 - died 1936.

Joe Scaccia Jr Married Gladys Viola Miller b.1941-Living. They had three children, Dennis Joseph Scaccia (me) b. 1960, Gina Lynne Scaccia b. 1962, and Christopher Lee Scaccia b. 1971.

Dennis Scaccia Multiple marriages, has a son Benjamin Joseph Scaccia b 1995 from a marriage to Amy Elizabeth Harris (now ex-wife). Dennis is now married to Kimberly Anne Sanford, b. 1980.

Gina Lynne Scaccia briefly married to Thomas Abbate, and had a son Shawn Thomas Abbate b. 1984.

Christopher Lee Scaccia married Kimberly Anne Taylor b. 1973 and has two Children - James Scaccia b. 1993( kimberly's child from a previous marriage), and they had a daughter together, Kristi Lynne Scaccia, b. 1996.

I hope this helps a little. The next time I talk to my Dad, he will give me all of the particulars of the "pre" Salvatore Scaccia years.

I am a Benjamin Nye-Katherine Tupper decendant, and have seen some of your work on Ancestry.com. I thought Ohio would honor early settlers during the Bicentennial. The festivities seem mostly commercial. Our very elderly parents love th history found on the internet, but it is difficult to do actual site searches. I want to see the Enenezer Nye journals at the Ohio Historical Society. What a story about his being shot through the hat at Bunker Hill. Thanks for the good work, Jane

It was assumed that Greenbrier was having some affair Mary. She bore 3 children out of marriage. At the same time he was married to Elizabeth who died at 20 in March 1860. Hi Doug,

It seems some of our ancestors "hung out" together in the early 1800s. Samuel and Vashti (Pier) Nash were my ggggg grandparents. I have a picture of their gravestone and info from the "Peter's Papers". Also got to look at the original estate record for Samuel Nash. His daughter Lydia (Lidia) was my gggg grandmother. When she died, her husband Isaac Barker gave his 2 young girls away to family members to raise. One daughter (my ggg grandmother Calista Barker) was placed in the home of her aunt and uncle on the Barker side, Nathan P. and Rhoda (Barker) Nye in Ohio. The other was placed with her aunt and uncle on the Nash side, Nathan and Laura (Nash) Robins.

I have a copy of the Ebenezer Nye files that were marked "miscellaneous" and had some family data in them.

Any interest?

My name is Nikola Lupi and I live at the island of Hvar, Croatia. (Europe- checks www.hvar.hr ). I am 22 years old and studying management at American College in Dubrovnik (Croatia). I am searching on the Web for my surname family roots. Since yours surname is Lupi, I am interested if you can provide me feedback about your roots. I find out for sure that my ancestors have lived about 300 years at the island Hvar. I am not really sure where they came from. It sounds Italian (on Latin- lupus, lupi.m- meaning wolf). So if you have any information about Lupi family and your personal opinion you want to share with me, please email me.
Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Nikola Lupi

You show Katherine McGilvra married to a Cornelius McEachron (the son of John McEachron). I show a son of John named Cornelius for whom I have no spouse. The age of Katherine would make this a probable match. However, John and Cornelius are very common names in our family.

Do you have a reference that would help prove this match?

I have put up a web site for the McEachron and McEathron familys at www.McEathron.com which I have not updated for several months. However, I will do so soon.

You have a very impressive web site!

Thanks so much on all the information on the McGilvra line! I was looking up my husband's grandparents which happened to link me in to a line back to John MacGillivray. Just started searches and it was very interesting to find one link that provided so much information.

His grandparents where Jean McGilvra and Hugh Wilcox. I noticed that that additional information concerning them was missing. Hopefully, we will be able to add in the future.

Thank you again.

I am, at the earliest known, related to Charles Levi Conwell, who was my 4th great-grandpa. He married Katherine Elizabeth RAYL, daughter of Elijah and Catherine COOPER. I also know that Charles L. had a sister, Julia Ann, who married Thomas Rayl, brother to Katherine Elizabeth, and they had a younger brother, Capt. Reason Conwell Jr. All were born in Ohio, and their father might have logically been Reason Sr. Also possible: Prettyman Conwell, who died in Ohio, could have ben their grandfather. I also know that ALL Conwell people in the U.S. are related to Russell H. Conwell, writer of "Acres of Diamonds," and co-founder of Temple University, and also, all Conwells are related to Sir Oliver Cromwell and Charlemagne. I learned this from Kristen Merrell, who descends from Anna CONWELL Merrell, the sister of Russel H. Conwell. She can go right back through her lineage to Cromwell. Right now, I cannot. But, thank you for site! It's great! Polli

I'm still going through your site and its links, I have been to the Allomac site, it is also very good. I have an old copy of a family sketch written by George B. McGilvra of Baraboo, WI. It leads to John MacGillivray but it did not mention where John was born, it did mention the conscription into the British army and Albany, NY. I recently visited the Sauk County Historical Museum in Baraboo, WI. They had some very interesting information, one of George B.'s children kept some very good scrapbooks that have a good acount of that time period of the late 1800's and early 1900's. I will also pass this site on to a McGilvray here in Fort Atkinson, WI that I recently met.

Thanks for the great work on the site and data base.

Hattie Hulsebos, wife of Arthur McGilvra, was a first cousin to my grandfather Ralph Alfred Veltman. Hatties' father Henry Hulsebos and Ralphs' mother Henrietta Hulsebos Veltman were brother and sister. Their parents were Meeuwes Hulsebos and Aaltje Dykema, who were born in the Netherlands and immigrated to the U.S. in 1847, with four children, Henry, Katrina, Aaldert and Alfred, two additional children John and Henrietta were born in Noordeloos, Michigan. I have several genealogy charts naming both the Hulsebos and Veltman Families, from their time of arrivals in the U.S. through current generations.
I would love to hear from any long lost relatives. The decendant charts I have, list Hatties' brother Albert and her two sisters, Dorothy and Alice and all their families, including husbands, wives and children. The family immigrated to South Africa in 1859 and there the trail goes cold. Finlayson married one, Sarah and I can find no more. My searches in Scotland have not found any more so I continue to keep looking, maybe something will turn up.

Here is a quote from Jean Muir Dorsey's "Christopher Gist of Maryland and Some of His Descendants," page 2: "Joseph Williams died soon after their marriage. His will made Sept. 24, 1692, appointed his wife Edith Williams, executrix and named four children by a former marriage. (Balt. Co. Md. Court Proceedings, Liber F, No. 2, p. 360; Balt. Co. Md. I am 14 and want to be an exchange student to Scotland at the town of Rigg on the Isle of Skye (or close to there) where my 5th great grandfather John MacGillivray lived.

Hi Unka! Looks super! Remember, Abigail Maverick ties into Rev.John Maverick and wife Mary Gye. They came on the "Mary and John" in 1630. He served as the mimister to the pilgrims at Plymouth Colony from 1630-1635 when he died. Keep that in mind on this year's Thanksgiving! See ya! Lil Cuz

I'm not connected to your site, but am trying to learn to maintain my own site which was set up by a friend at K-D Designs. Now I'm learning and I'm terrified, can't even access the site! I wanted to visit your site and see how you did yours.:)

So far, the background is very nice, but doesn't distract from reading the information you provide. Very pleasing work, good luck! I'll be back for more reviewing your system as how you expand and continue to work with it.
