I was born in Australia in 1930. My Mother's maiden name was Lydia Walpole, and my Fathers name was Lewis Murray. My mother told me from a little boy that we were connected to the ancestary relating to Sir Robert Walpole, the fist British Staesman. Of course families do have such stories that get handed on. I am vague as to when the direct Walpole relatives came from England to Australia in the early 1800's, however I have some old photos and some old paintings that are supposed to be from the Walpoles, both in England and Australia. My siter has a old painting that says it is "Walpole Castle". This painting originated I was told from back around the 1600's to 1700's.
My mother gave me my second name walpole, as she always felt that the name should be remembered.
Best regards.... John Walpole Murray.

I knew Ruth Schurr Stoos, she was a great lady. She had a great smile and was always fun to talk to, I really admired her. One of her grandchildren was just here to see me. They are really great people. One of her grandchildren lives in Clarence NY, and her daughter lives in Williamsville, not far from there. Please email me if you would like to update the Ruth-Charles Stoos and Edwin-Edith Stoos (not Stoop) branches of your tree.

Your site is well done! My ancestor James Gilbert Allen born
about 1827 in Canada, married about 1855 Clinton Co Jane E Dragoon. Their children married King,Hopkins,Hodges,Moore, LaBombard,Grisdale,Beardsley. I have failed to connect them to other Dragoon and Allen families. Few facts I have are:
In 1850 James Gilbert Allen is living with a Macomber family, as is Benjamin Strong. Benjamin Srong marries a Lydia Dragoon at about the same time as James Gilber Allens marriage to Jane Dragoon.
In the 1870 census James G Allen and Jane had a Mary Dragoon living with them born about 1807 in Canada, which I assume is her Mother. Looking for Information that links these persons to other DRAGOON and ALLEN families.

Starting out to look up family on very little information. I know my grandfather, Albert Walpole, married Mary Montreal Duncan in 1915 in Hackney, where my grandfather lived (or thereabouts). I am told that Mary's mother was from Scotland and her father was a French-Canadian. Albert was born on 21/04/1900? and Mary on 17/01/1900 (yes, they were only 15 years old when they married, I believe my uncle was on his way!!)I know my father, their second child, was born in Tottenham, London on 12/04/1920 but that is about all the information I have. It was just nice to see the Walpole name in relation to the London area in hope that there might be a connection with my family. Nice site, thank you.

I've just started researching my husbands grandmother, who came from Keeseville and the pictures of the town are great! She was brought up by her grandmother-cause the mother took off with a dentist to Chicago and the father was killed in a train accident. And I am told the church records that held her birth cert were lost when the catholic church burned down.
I try to be polite to my mother-in-law when she tells me these things - anyway I thought the story would give you a good chuckle (I'm sure lots of respectable men were killed in train accidents) -- The website is wonderful, very nicely designed, visually and how the site is arranged, very easy to work with. Just loved the pictures of Niagara Falls! This is the birth place of my father. I know my grandfather, Peter, must have went to that post office many times, since he was an inventor, and was always sending mail to the US Patent office. They lived around Falls St. I just recently found them on the 1920 census; now if I could only find thier naturalization record. Maybe someday. It's a little hard to look these things up when you live in Tennessee, & this type of thing isn't published on the internet.
Anyway, love your web site!!!!

You had some nice pictures of Keeseville NY. I was born their in 1957 and now live in FLA. I'm also doing my Family History.
I am also doing the Curtis's Family. Mine are in Vermont and maybe in Jay NY but not sure if its the same Curtis's in Jay. Trying to tie them together.
Are you from the Keeseville Area ?
Tina

Hi Judy,
Glad to see you're pages are coming together and looking very nice. You have followed through on your theme of background and headings and it looks neat and clean. I hope you have lots of hits.
You weren't a bother and if I can help with anything else, just let me know. I'll be glad to try if I have the time.
