moved to Lafayete Co in 1857 to farm land that bcame Disie Co.Buried in Fayettvill cemetary in Dixie Co. Tombstone dates are wrong.. Birth and death verified by family Bible and Judge Guy M. McCain as 9-25-0804 not 11-1-1805. He died 12-1-1871, not 19-5-1964.

I can't remember which, but one of my relatives was sherrrif of the county and was BLIND!

Thought that was interesting. If I find he nam, I'll let you know.

This area is now known as Dixie Co. His son, my g grandfather died of brain fever and is shown on the 1860 Mortality table. My grandfather, Arial Travis JONES and my father Oscar Zachariah JONES were born near Oldtown

I believe both families were long time Florida residents. I have a letter dated 1864 from Tallahassee mentioning a Mary Sanders and G.W. Bakar.

They are the progenitors of most present-day people of the Futch name, as well as many allied families, in Dixie County.

Wm. Morgan Dempsey was my grandfather. He moved his family to what is now First District in Dixie County in 1904, departing Hamilton County on January 4 and arriving January 6, 1904. He died Mar 30, 1922 in First District. His wife, Rhobia Dempsey, died in First District Aug 1, 1937. Both are buried in Rock Sink Cemetery. My father, Fredwell Jackson (Fred) Dempsey, was born in Hamilton County April 29, 1899, and died Mar 20, 1990, in Cross City. My mother, Mary H. (Parnell) Dempsey, was born Mar 1, 1911, Columbia Co., and died Dec 22, 1993, in First District. Both are buried in Rock Sink Cemetery.

Attempting to find where my great grandfather is buried, unsure of his name, his wife was Mary A. Johns 1835-1921(Unknown maiden name.)They had 1 boy Franklin Jefferson Johns Grandfather(1873-1942), 2 girls,Hetti Johns(She married Eliga Stokes),and Mary Johns (She married an M.D. Fletcher). I can find nothing on my great grandfather. Found where a Jefferson Johns died in Suwannee, Florida in 1880 which would have made my Grandfather 7 years old at the time and I remember my dad saying his Grandfather died at a young age.

Anything anyone knows will be helpfull and appreciated.

Yet they have her sister correct as Eunice McKinley married to K.A. Washburn 26 Mar 1931.
