Hi,
I am doing research on my Great-grandfather David Hentley Fyffe the last location where he lived and where he died was Jamaica. I know that he was born in Scotland, but exactly where I don't know. He moved to Jamaica where he met my great-grandmother Marion who was Jamaican and they had 19 children. The only site that I have been able to research is Jamaican Family History. My grandmother was Rachel Gilchrist d/o James Gilchrist & Mary Delamar. So I think that would make me 2nd cousin to Edward Gilchrist Fyffe (your father?)

You're in Thornbury but it seems that we are not related...
My grandparents (Charles Leonard Fyffe, Agnes Therese O'Sullivan) moved to Thornbury (Keon St) in the 1930's, having been ruined by the depression on the land (Mologa, near Pyramid Hill). There are Fyffes descended from this couple all over the place!

there are a whole heap of other Fyffes in Victoria, Melbourne who I am related to. Why don't you look up Leo and Margaret at 1, Irene Street, Preston, Victoria, Australia. They are my parents who started off in Rene Street, Thornbury (I think). They have now 11 children who have now grown up, mostly married with lots of little fyfees. I am looking for information of the birth place of
George HENDERSON born about 1833/35 somewhere in Scotland
so his marriage certificate says.
He is the son of James HENDERSON and Jane GILMORE
as per his marriage certificate in Rockhampton Australia
in 1864. It also states that James was a farmer.
Unfortunately George died in 1869 so there is no other
details about his birth.
If there is anyone out there who has come across these
names please contact me.

I can't believe I found all this info on somebody's site - for once!! I gave up internet genealogy surfing when I ceased to get anywhere, sometime last year. My Grandfather gave me some more names, from the Tait-side of my family - and apparently yours too. I don't know if you know my Grandad, but I know he has a few relatives in Australia - one of which I saw this winter (though she now lives in Canada).
The Tait's married into my 'SMith-clan' through Barbara Tait (daughter of Barbara Youngclause + John Tait - born 1796 in Dunrossness). She married John Smith, my Great-great-grandfather. Out of their 9 children, David married Jessie Wood Aitken (the grandmother of Australian relatives). Of their 3 offspring, one was my Grandfather. David moved from Shetland to Edinburgh (which figures heavily in your tree), where my Grandad lives today.
I'm going to go back to your tree, to see where you and I fit in together!! If i can that is.
