Lewis Tolbert was my great great great grandfather. Lewis married Alcy Jane, she was born in Tennessee.They had :Thomas Tolbert,Mary Adeline Tolbert, Margaret S. Tolbert, Sally Tolbert, William Griffith Tolbert.William G.Tolbert was born in Riley Dist, Yell County, Arkansas. in 1861 and married Lucinda Jane Smith on June 27, 1882 in Yell, Arkansas. Lucinda was born Jan. 19, 1861 in Havana, Riley Dist., Yell, Arkansas.My grandfather was Thomas Edgar Tolbert and he was born Oct. 26, 1884 in Riley, Yell County, Arkansas. He married Eva Myers in 1910in Yell County, Arkansas. Eva Myers died in Milton, Oklahoma in 1927 during child birth.My Father was Tilmon Tolbert, he was born April 20, 1920 in Milton, Oklahoma. He died in Arkansas. I know that I have cousins out there some where, just don't know where."

I hope Janet or her family finds this, I've tried emailing her several times. From what I've learned, I believe my Great Grand Father James Elmer Tolbert is a brother to your Grandfather Thomas Edgar Tolbert. Making us distant cousins.

His father was known as C.T. Tolbert. They hauled freight(mule Skinners) up from New Orleans into Texas. I know he married the daughter of Daniel S. LaRoe, named Sarah Alice. Her grandfather, James S. LaRoe came to Texas from New Jersey around 1848, and the diary he kept while traveling to Texas is available online. They had the following children: Charles E. Tolbert, Francessa(Frankie), Nina Alice(who married Hubert Rampy), Dewitt Talmage "Bert"(my grandfather) and Guy. My Grandfather was born in 1898, and Uncle Guy was born in 1900. Sarah evidently passed that year after Guy was born. My father, Charles E. Tolbert,(named for his uncle) passed away this year. He always wanted to know what happen to his Grandfather. We know that Sarah is buried at CrossRoads, TX. If anyone knows anything, please let me know.

Asa Tolbert (born 1778) (married Mary Peters) were my gg grandparents. Their son Samuel born 1809 (married Louisa Platt) were my g grandparents. Their son Grant born 1869 (married Emma Gardner) were my grandparents. Their son Herbert born 1925 (married Phyllis J. Mathers) were my parents. I would like to go back another generation. The " Pearl" you keep mentioning was the daughter of Bettys daughter, Jimmie, who died right after giving birth to Pearl.Jimmie's sister, Ada & husband Jake Reedy took Pearl and raised her as their own.Ada and Jake had one natural son..no other children; I think they adopted Pearl..not sure.
Of the picture of the three women, I think (guessing) that the one on left-standing is Betty ( the mother), and next to her is Ellen, my grandmother..full name Emma Ida Joella, not Ellen at all, and called "Addie" (as if she diden't have enough names), and the one seated is Ada. I was told all my life by my Dad, and grandfather (who was married to 'Ellen'-Charles Alonzo Tate), and by my aunt Pauline that I looked just like my grandmother, and that picture on your page looks just like me in my youth..Let me know if ever found out-if I am right..Wynell
