I just found you website and hit a gold mine. I've been tracing my mothers family roots in Charlo, Port Daniel, P.Q. and the original Reid and MacPherson family that came from Dumfriesshire, Scotland and Muinas, Scotland and found you had far more information that I had myself. I'd not been able to find info on James MacPherson who immigrated in 1819 to Charlo River and you had him in you DB. You even had my grandmother Hilda Reid. I'm the oldest son of you youngest daughter.

I have reason to believe that info that you have on John Mcgregor may be inaccurate ( even though i think i gave it to you) there are conflicting dates of Birth on the census
he has a birth range from 1850 - 54 on the 1901 - 1881 census and they also vary on the place of birth even though they have the same people and children.

It was rumoured that our family name was originally Gallon, three brothers made their way to the Northern NB. I'm still trying to determine which family exactly best matches the folklore. I suspect it is the family Abner belongs to. I can only see one Abner in your database and the brothers are names familiar to this day down the family line.

You have done some great research... I actually found your site on a Google search and found many additions to my wifes "Cook" ancestors who I am trying to source now. Her g gramdfather was Archibald Cook (your ID: I1010) and my brother-in-law just made a trip to our hometown in Missouri and the cemetary and found something interesting I am trying to chase down. Evidently there was a third (actually 2nd) wife between Janet Harvie and Elizabeth McClean named Carrie who is buried beside him who died in 1894. Evidently the first marrige with Janet ended in a divorce as she is shown with 2 more marriges, he imigrated to the US in 1872 and the 1880 census does not show a wife, there is no 1890 census and then Elizabeth shows up on the 1900 census...
At any rate let me know if you know anything on this, and good look with your research.

The Lore is Andrew Drowned on his farm and Isabella remarried and the sold the farm and James moved to the Chatfield area and Andrew went to Southwestern Manitoba around the Macgregor area.

I am searching for brothers John & William Henry Stewart.
I do know William Stewart's birthdate 7 May 1853 but do not know John's birthdate except birth year as abt 1868. Both brothers were in Colorado, USA in 1900. 1900 census shows William & John living in Leadville, Colorado. Both were listed as silver miners. By 1910 William was in Shawnee, Oklahoma and was farming. He was married to Minnie Williams and had 3 children - Mary, William and Ruth. John Stewart was not listed as living with them. William moved to Didsbury, Alberta with his 3 children. His wife died in 1912. William died 13 oct 1928 in Didsbury, Alberta. John Stewart was listed as being married 7 years on the 1900 census but his wife was not with him on the census. Any info you may have would be appreciated.

I haven't seen any activity on the Ancestry.com boards, so I don't know if anyone is still interested in the James (O'Brien) Christopher. However, I will forward this in hope that in fills in some gaps.
I have discovered the adoptive father of James (O'Brien) Christopher. He is Raphael (Ralph) Christopher from La Pocatière (KAMOURASKA DISTRICT) Quebec. He is the father of Samuel, Marie Francoise, and Jean Jacques Christopher. Samuel seems to be the only child that is with his father in New Bruswick. James, Samuel and Ralph have land grants beside each other on the Restigouch River. Ralph dies April 20, 1832 leaving James as the administer of his estate.
Nancy Dennis is identified in 'The Loyalists of New Brunswick' by Esther Clark Wright and receives a land grant in Passamaquoddy, Sunbury County (26/07/1785). This would strongly suggest, in fact, that she had immigrated from the U.S. as a loyalist.
I have also found a Richard Henry O'Brien b. approx. 1751 - d. Feb 1824 in Washington D.C. and buried in the Congressional Cemetary. He is the only Richard O'Brien I can find fitting the time line (i.e. 30 yrs per generation). . . he does fit it perfectly. Was this Richard O'Brien in the O'Brien lineage, denied his title by the British re-organization of the Irish Peerage, which turned him into an American Fenian - joining the U.S. forces? I cannot find Richard listed in any of the Irish Pedigrees.
Also, James identifies himself as Irish (race) but, born in New Brunswick in the census of 1851.

Anyways, I came across your website, and you have put together an amazing amount of information. I have quite a bit from the Vancouver Archives on the Fraser family, i.e. Angus Carmichael Fraser. His wife Annabella knew the City of Vancouver Archivist quite well back in the late 1800's. I am related to you via Jean "Jane" Carmichael who married Allan Fraser. Their son Angus Carmichael Fraser is my great grandfather on my father's side. My dad's name was Douglas Fraser Thomas. He was the son of Hilda Fraser, one of Angus's many daughters!!
My cousin Barb's father was Daryl Thomas. My cousin, Leslie Thomas' faather was Ernest Webb Thomas. There is only one of Hilda Fraser's sons alive: Rainald Thomas.

I am interested in finding more about James Fraser, the father of Allan Fraser who married Jean (Jane) Carmichael as there is so little info on him.
All I know is that he was born in 1779 in Inverness, Scotland. I have found a Passenger Ship List from Scotland to Pictou, Nova Scotia called the "Sarah" of 1801. It lists a "James Fraser, laborer" from Kilmorach. It could have been him as he didn't have Allan Fraser until 1813 in Pictou. James would have been 22 yr. old in 1813. Interested in assisting with this search of who James' wife was?

It is February 16 2008 . I have been researching my families history for ten years, and never could prove my grandfathers geneology because of a myth that has been past down to my generation. The myth was that my grandfather ( George Levi Harvey ) was adopted by Robert Harvey. We were also told that Robert Harvey was never married. I can prove he was married.
We had a portait of Robert Harvey in our home when we were growing up, and this man had every facial aspect to my dad and uncles that they would have been brothers if we didnt know the difference. I never accepted that we were not direct decendants, and began researching a bit here and there. In this last month I was making great progress in my proving that this man was my real great grandfather. Then I come upon your site and you have the same information that I have, however you have the direct connection. Could you please tell me where I can get that same proof, so my family can prove our true roots.

Small world it seems. I too hail from Dalhousie, NB. The only Campbell I knew was in high school in the late 50's-60's and he was a young guy going to the public school. Of course I was French and RC so went to the Academie....wonder if we knew each other....
Have been researching my father-in-law's origin. He was from Charlo, N.B. and the unofficially adopted son of David Doherty and Mary Bain(e?s?) of Charlo, N.B. They took him in in 1919 when he, EDWARD HEATH DOHERTY, was 4 yrs.old. They picked him up in Quebec City, PQ at a orphanage of some kind. I've been on the search since the early '70's and still hitting brick walls. It is quite the story, especially that he ended up in RCAF in the '40's and on to WWII and retired as a Warrant Officer. He has 3 sons, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. We have no clue who he is as the documents handed over to the RCAF in 1940's and attested to seem to be false in nature.

My name is Gordon, my grandmother Ada Barter was a gt-grandaughter of Morel (Morell) Barter, I remember her telling me that she always believed they came from Vermont and that Morel was a son of Captain George Barter, but I never did find any existance of the old captain.
However...I came across a Robert Barter (1770-1857) whose first wife was a Mahitabel Wilkins whom they had 8 children, Among them a Morris Barter who was born in 1794 in Plymouth, Rocklington CTY, New Hampshire. Morris fits quite good with Morel, who gave his age in 1861 as 67, making born in 1794 or so.
Mahitabel died when the children were small, and Robert moved the family to Orleans Cty, Vermont, he remarried to Pheobe Heath and had about 13 more kids.
I always suspected that Morel originally came from Vermont, through Lower Canada (now Quebec) then into New Brunswick via Madawaska in 1822. I never had Morel coming from Peacham Vermont though, but it lies close to Orleans County where Robert Barter/Pheobe Heath resided.
I have wondered if George Barter was actually the grandfather of Morel, rather the father???
I am decscended from Morel from his first son Robert Wilkiins Barter by the way, so I would love to hear from I may have info about the Barters that you might not have.

I have 74 Fairservice ancestors in my database originating from the same area of Scotland that yours come from. But where yours immigrated to Quebec, mine went to Ontario. I compared names and dates from your database with mine but did not find a match.

The Mother is Annie Maruk, it appears they were very young lived with her parents for awhile (Nickolous and Paraska Maruk). Not sure how long they were married, Annie then married Alvin James Glennie who adopted Robert James Chic. I was married to Robert and had two children with him. All these individuals live or lived in International Falls, Minn. So I'm researching for my children, my daughter would love to know more about her real grandfather (Ignatius Chic).
Forgot to mention siblings to Ignatius are Sam, Annie, John, Steve, and Anastasia. Anxious to hear from you.
