Comments:	I search for Brockschmidt names. I found Hermann Diedrich Brockschmidt and it took me to here. I only know my great great great grandfathers name was Friedrich Brockschmidt from Germany. Married Anna Walkenhorst in Germany, born about 1809. No real concrete evidence of where he was born. Possibly in the Hannover area/Lippe area or Hamburg, not sure. I don't know where to find records. My great great grandfather came to America in 1848. His name was John Herman Brockschmidt. Known as "Herman" died in Carrollton, Missouri on March 16, 1893. This is a very informative website. I thank Bob, did not know him. God rest his soul. I appreciate websites like this one. Keep up the work.

They first settled in Illinois (mid 1800s) and later in Northwestern Iowa, probably in the late 1800s. I have some data somewhere that might be more specific, but it is not readily accessable.

She was born on March 3, 1954. They had me Rosanne Kay Sargeant on March 21, 1981, and my older sister Melissa Jean Sargeant on January 9, 1979. Melissa just recently married Steven Lee Wyatt on Feb. 13, 2000. They have one daughter Jessica Ann Wyatt born March 5, 2001, and a second is on her way. Their ancestor who came from Germany to the United States was John Bernard Borchers from the Hanover Territory in Germany, Freistein was the name of the town. He was born 08.7.1832. His wife was Catherine Timmerman, born 05.05.1846. I understand this town is near Hamburg, Germany. There is a huge Borchers family which has sprung from this family in the Shelby County, Darke County, and Mercer County areas in Ohio. My husband is Alan J. Borchers, and his father is Orville W. She was born and married in Gönningen to a Mr. NILL. They had 3 children: Mathilde (named after the mother), Lydia and a son. Mathilde never married or had offsprings. She was devouted to church and a lovely woman. I don't know anything about the brother but Lydia married a Philipp Krämer (with the 2 dots atop the a) and they had 3 children: Hedwig (died young) Elfriede (in her sixties living in Rüsselsheim)and Hans Philipp (my father past away a few years ago) Hedwig had two daughters: Lydia, whereabout unknown, Reneate Funk, who married a Joseph Weiss and lives in Georgia. Comments:	Hey Bob, my husbands parents came from Germany (Hamburg and Ostfriesland) in the late 1800's and settled in the Northern Transvaal, South Africa, where he started farming. His name was Wilhelm Borchers. Before coming to South Africa he first went to the USA and spent time in New York where he tried chicken farming. My husband is also Bob and his brothers, now deceased, were Gerd and Wilhelm Frederik. I'm sure that you have a common ancestor way back in antiquity. Our son, Robert and his young family, emigrated to the USA just over a year ago and are living in Portland, Oregon, where Robert works for Siemens as a medical engineer. Comments:	Have been really enjoying all the information that you have provided for us with "our" Roskam-Pruin (Borchers) family. On our first trip to Ihrenerfeld, Germany we found my husbands grandfather's church records and we are now totally into Genealogy! I'm waiting on the copy of a marriage certificate,from Iowa, of Karsjen Roskam, born 3 Jun 1870, died 9 June, 1956 in Sibley, IA and Catharina Janssen, born 31 Dec 1871, died 10 Dec 1947 in Matlock, IA. They married in Matlock, Iowa on 13 Jan 1895. I am hoping to get her parents names from it. I believe that I have found her parents, Jan Brüning Janssen and Hilcke Fischer. One problem with it is that SHE is not mentioned as a member of the family at all. We have a baptism certificate and know her birthdate. We have a letter from Germany written in 1957 by a relative in the Roskam family that listed the brothers and sisters of Katharine Janssen. She would have been born between Bertha Lucia Janssen, born 27 Dec 1867 and Hero Janssen, born 29 March 1876.(My husbands Father's middle name is also Hero). Her Mother's name is listed as Helene Fischer and the Father's name is listed as Johann Janssen on the January, 1872 Baptisimal certificate. We have no idea if we are on the right track, but sure do hope so because my husband's Grandmother's ancestors stop right in Matlock, Iowa!! I plan to share some information with you real soon, but am not sure exactly how to do it. Thanks again for all of your wonderful "sourced" information. Dorothy Roskam

Comments:	I come from Leer in East Frisia (Ostfriesen)in NW Germany and have been looking for my ancestors in the Buskohl family. My grand- mother on my mother's side was a Buskohl (Aaltje Buskohl), born on 25 April 1884 in Breinermoor. Her father was Jan Hinrich Bushohl, her mother was Hindertje Höting. Jan Hinrich's father was Jann Wessels (Janssen) Bushohl from Firrel, his mother Wübke Janssen Loger. Jann Wessels' father was Jan Wessel Buskohl, born about 1766 in Neermoor, died on 17 Nov. 1852; his mother was Grietje Harms, born about 1766, died on 17 March 1842 in Warsingspolder. All places in East Frisia. The last couple named appear also in your genealogy. One brother of Harm Wessels Buskohl was Jann Wessels (Janssen) Buskohl, so that our ancestral lines cross. Evidently part of the Buskohl family emigrated to USA, but I have no definite information on this. So I was quite excited to discover our common roots and would be delighted to hear from you. Comments:	Hi, Great site! I'm researching Brinkmann name. My great-grandfather was Hermann H. - lived in Missouri Don't know who his parents were. He came from Germany, and married in 1865 in Missouri. Any suggestions on where to look for parents names or some other relations? Been to local court house and library. Thank you for response.
