I have a part of "The Reasoner Story" prepared by Marie C. and Donald O. Anderson. I would love to find out how to get an ORIGINAL COPY. My descendancy is through Garrett, Nicholas, Peter Jacob, Henry, Peter Shepler Reasoner. Peter Shepler Reasoner is my Great Grandmother, Rachel Ann Reasoner Callahan's father.

Your Thomas James Wilson b. 1818 West Virginia and my husband's William Smith Wilson b. 1819 Speedwell, TN., may be related. Our Wilson family have been in Battle Ground area for a long time. Dora Wilson married Maurice Morgan in the 1920's. Dora's father was Abraham Lincoln Wilson. Dora was best friends with Bessie Wilson Curry. Dora and Maurice had the first Gilmore gas station, grocery store, Morgan apartments. Maurice's father Grant had a livery stable and butcher shop. We are in the book 'Battle Ground In and Around'. Both early families seem to come from Virginia. Our family moves to Speedwell, Tennessee and yours goes to Detroit, Michigan. What are your thoughts on the families being related?

My Father was Charles Chatham, mother was Nellie Farley. Only have the sketchiest info on my grand father and grand mother. Nothing further back than that, however I noticed that your Chatham geanology involved the names of my brothers: Clifford, William, James, Edward (me) also have a brother Floyd. And the areas of the country seeem to fit.
Just wondering if there might be a connection.

Yes, I have learned about the Dollar's from Betty, and Michele ( Shelly) Would you be willing to share? It was a great pleasure to have known Betty, I too miss her smiling face and never ending friendship. Comments:
Betty may not be with us in the physical sense, but she is bigger than life in our hearts. I cannot believe that three years have gone past since her leaving all of us. I was lucky enough to have spent her 70th birthday with her in Portland, it is a trip that I will forever hold dear in my heart. I met may a Dollar on the day of her party, and she so enjoyed that whole day.
I hope that she knows that we will take care of Shelly and her family. I know that Betty is still around making sure that everyone is doing just fine.
We love Betty Dollar!
Love,
Donnell and Shirley.

I am so proud of all the work she did on this webpage and in finding all the information on our family. I have her findings and am more than happy to share. I only wish I had more time to continue her quest. Hopefully, in time, I will be able to pick up where she left off.
Love and miss you Mom......Shelly

My father talks about the stories his grandmother told him about going across the Oregon Trail. Also, the story is true about Peter Frohman. He is the one who said "A head without a hat is better than a hat without a head."
There is apparently an excellent family bible somewhere that your mother's grandmother might have had (or a close family member).
In any case, fun to see this website. I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

Hello, My name is Bill Edmundson and am working on the Reasoner family
history. In fact, I have been for more than thirty years. My line come thru
Peters brother Jacob and Catherine Thompson. I have collect a lot of
information on both families. I am very near to publishing my line.
In my studies I have found the letters written by Tryphena on their trip to
Oregon that tell us a lot about the Reasoners.
Your home page is very interesting but I have some questions as where you may
have gotten your information. For the most part it looks like it came from
the work of Marie Anderson.
You mention that Christopher lived to 107, do you have evidence or know
where her died? I have not been able to find anything on him or where he
lived. I do find a Christopher in New York but he was the son of Peter and
Sarah Houck Reasoner and he was born Nov. 13, 1825.
Do you have old letters stating that Garrett married Marie an aristocratic. I
have heard that this is a tradition. I would believe that one of the Hill
family was from the aristocratic line.
I would like to work with you on the Reasoner line, so please write.
Bill

I just found your site, and it looks like you are my Dad's fifth cousin, and my fifth cousin once removed. I am descended from Benjamin Reasoner (4th generation, counting from Garrett), brother to Nicholas, your ancestor.
I do have some information to share, such as descendants of Benjamin, if you pursue branches that far removed.

all I really know is from the stories my late grandmother used to tell us (Natalie Stout), and what I read in Rex Stout's biography by John McAleer. My mom was named Penelope, after Penelope Kent/Van Princin/Stout (the shipwrecked, disemboweled woman, etc) It's just neat to see how the giant family tree connects so many people! I live in New York City, and most of my immediate family lives in New Jersey.
