My mother was adopted in Michigan back in the 1930's by Ruth Joy Muck-Hunter. The adoption papers should be filed in Marquette Michigan. BUT the stories I over heard from my grandmother were that they had adoted her from a young girl on a reservation. My Grandmother was from the town of Michigamiee and had relatives/friends in Champion. A friend of the family was a judge in Ishpeming during that time and assisted in the adoption, his name was Fredrick Burge. The movie "Anatomy of a Murder" (with Jimmy Stewart)was filmed in the house across from him in Ispeming. My grandmother's family lived in the areas of Marquette, Ispeming, Negaunee, and Michigamme. My Great Grandfather owned the butcher shop in Michigamme back in the early 1900's.
I know this is a real longgggggggggggg shot but I was hoping someone might remember hearing something? or could point me in the right direction.

Jerimiah McSweeney married Nellie Ring, both from Ireland. They had a son named Eugene Owen McSweeney. Eugene, born abt 1832 married Mary Green, born abt 1830. The 1880 census showed they had 9 children, however, only 2 were living at the time of the census. They moved to England then immigrated to the U.S. in 1877 possibly through NY then Canada. They ended up in Sterlingville Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula. The two children still living in 1880 were James and John. James' family kept the Mc on McSweeney. John's descendants dropped the Mc. Both brothers started families of their own and became farmers.
I'd like to do more research in Ireland, however, I am not completely clear on when exactly they left Ireland and from which County. If you have any information on this family, please contact me. If my contact email does not work, try sweeney@michigan.gov

Been researching these family names and followed them down from Canada. They were lumbermen and followed work until they reached the Drummond Island area where they settled as farmers. Tompsett came to Chippwa County from Tisehurst England via Canada.
Portice came to Pickford from the Owensound Ontario, Canada area having come from Ireland at the age of 16 via Boston, Mass.
Hanna (Richard) Homesteaded the Stalwart area and the Hanna Cential farm is still in the family on Hanna Rd.
Smart came from the Owensound area too.

I'm still trying to track down info on my Brassard/Brassar family line and I need help. I hoping someone reading this board may have come across this family in their research.
I have not been able to find when or where Mary(Davieaux)and her husband,Peter Brassard, died. In 1920 Mary was living with one of her daughters Anna Guest in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Mary and Peter have one grandchild still living on Sugar Island. She was born in 1917. She does not remember her grandparents. So I am guessing that Mary Brassard died between 1920-1925 and Peter must have died before 1920.
Two of Mary's and Peter's grandchildren are listed as going to the Mount Pleasant Indian Boarding School in 1920 & 1921. They were the sons of Julia & Wilfred Carpentier. They are listed as their Tribe being Chippewa and their address being Sault Ste. Marie. Their family lived on Sugar Island in 1910 and I have not been able to find them in the 1920 census.
If I have the family line right Mary's parents were Hyacinthe Davieaux and Louise Cadreau from Soo, Canada. And Peter's parent were Pierre Brassard and Julie Mastaw. From different information is looks like Pierre and Julie separated and both had lived on Sugar Island at one time. They came from the Soo Cananda area.
If anyone reading this knows anything about this family please contact me. This in my one family line I have not been able to find much information on. I have been able to piece things together, but still looking for the prove.

There is a Perron family web page, and an association. Their data seems to diverge at the entry into Montreal by a Perron that ws taken in by a Denoyer family. The association wronly believes a Denoyer took the name Perron. The Sault Perron family is descended from this lineage.
