I was hoping to find the birth for Jack/Jackson THOMPSON who stated on his marriage license application in 1891/Montana that he was 23 and had been born in Little Rock. Was looking for info on a Dr. Edwin H. Skipwith (a.k.a., Skipworth) who lived in LR in 1870 Census and apparently got married between 1870-1878 in or near LR, then moved to Las Vegas, NM in 1880. His wife each year made at least one trip back to LR until the two divorced about 1886-1889, when Edwin moved to Roswell, NM and married again. His first wife is believed to have moved back to LR and died their about 1891-1893. Apparently Edwin adopted his first wife's young son and daughter. Any info on their marriage or divorce will be appreciated. Thanks Bob

I am trying to find when and where my grandfather, William Samuel Hood, married Mary Louella Jones, about 1898. She said at one time she was from Lawrence County, then later, Judsonia, in White County. She was about 16 years old when they married.
I believe I have found her parents on the 1880 census, James M. Jones, 34, and Mary M., 21, with no children, in Lawrence County, E.D. 159. I would really love to know her maiden name and where and when they married. He said he was born in Tenn. and she was born in Ark.

To whom it may concern;

I found your webpage of marriages

http://victorian.fortunecity.com/canterbury/478/bridea.htm

and found that you incorrectly listed my grandmother’s and grandfather’s names. You have listed Lucy Bragles married Allen Sutterfield in Arlberg, and the correct names are Lucy Jane Broyles married Jasper Allen Sutterfield. They had 2 children; Boyce, who was born dead, and Kenneth, who passed away in 1997. Grandpa didn’t like his first name (Jasper) so much, so he went by Allen. Please correct this mistake.

Thank you

Scott Sutterfield

Kathy,

I know you will never read this in this world, but I wanted to let you know how much you were loved and already missed so very much. All of us, your friends, will miss seeing your smile and hearing your voice. But, we are so very thankful to have had a friend like you in our lives-- and we are thankful that you are no longer suffering.

I have been thinking about all those plays we did together and all of those crazy board meetings we had over the past 12 years. Greater Tuna was a hoot, and you were SO good in Steel Magnolias and Play On. The board meetings were, at the time, quite a pain due to certain members we had, but now that I look back on them, they were still fun.

I was hoping to visit you again soon, but didn't make it in time. I am sorry for that. You will, though, remain a very important person in my memory and I will visit you there often. I hope so much that you are up there "playing" like you said you wanted to during one of our last few conversations. You said you looked forward to death sometimes so you could finally play for the first time in your "life."

"Play On" dear friend.

Barbara

I came by this way looking for a Claud or Claude Ringo. On another genealogy site, I found Clyde Ringo. I thought they were brothers, but apparently not, since Clyde appeared to be an only child in the Gen. I did find.

Clyde and Claude Ringo were teen friends of my dad, Charles Alton Thompson. They would have grown up (if any of them ever really did grow up!) in Trinity County TX. My dad was born in 1914 in Sylvester Trinity Co.

I remember visiting the Ringos when I was a small child. Barely remember that they had two daughters about my age (i was b. 1938 in Trinity County (Groveton).

The last few days, they have been on my mind, so I had a few minutes tonight and thought I'd do a little searching, and found your site. Thank you so much for what you have done/are doing. It makes late-comers like me feel totally lazy!! 8^)

May God bless you and your family.

Dear Generous Web Friend,

My cousin, Margaret Velma TURNER, died in Concord, California last month: March 18, 2003. I live in St. Louis and couldn't go to her funeral and want very much to have her obituary. Can you give me the address of the local paper or some other idea how to go about getting an obituary?

Thanks so much!

Any suggestions for new projects? Deaf Mute Institute of Arkansas
Comments:
I am interested in the Deaf Mute Institute of Arkansas, Pulaski County, Arkansas, 1880 census. I will eloborate below. My ancestor was John D. McReynolds, 3rd great gf., his son is my 2nd g gf, Henry Burton McReynolds. I have assumed that Henry's sister died by 1880 simply because she and mother do not show on the 1880 census of Yell County where the family was living on the date of enumeration. I have since learned of Hattie McReynolds enumerated in the DMI of Arkansas in 1880 and would like to know more of it's history and where other information may be obtained on it's students.

John D. McReynolds, household, 1870 Census Bentley Twp., Perry County, Arkansas, Page 6 Enumerated on , 19 JUL 1870. Extract:

I'm looking for my g grandfather Russel Leander Evans who was born in Section Al. around April of 1867. He married a Mary Ever Telor Dodgen in July 20 1888. He then married a Cynthia Susan Hulca Kay in May 30 1891 when she died he married her sister Jessie Kay. Sometime in the early 1900's he and some of his kids moved to Littlerock Arkansas area. His kids were Eldon W. Evans b. 1884...Wanna M. Evans b. 1896...Amber L. Evans b. 1898. I think Jessie and Russel had a son named Jack Evans. Russel died around the late 1940's or early 1950's while getting off a train in Littlerock Arkansas. He had been back to Al. for a visit. If anyone can help me find my family in that area it would be great my father has never seen or meet with any of then.

I was not actually using this site for geneology purposes, but for research on a house that was built in downtown Little Rock in the late 1800's. Through this site, I was able to find the builder of the house, what he did for a living, and the 3 families who lived there after him. I also went to the Butler Center in the Main Library, and the History Commission on the 2nd floor of the State Library. This site is awesome and was extremely helpful!!!

I thought it was a great site. Some of my relatives came to Little Rock in the 1920's. Others immigrated to Morrilton then on to Little Rock but we don't know when. The closest I've been able to find on that side of the family is 1929 when my great grandfather died. Keep up the good work. Maybe someday I'll be able to find someone that's related. Thanks!

Did you find anyone you were looking for? Yes, sketch on Lutetia Howel
Comments:
I am interested in where you got the sketch on Lutetia Howells -she is my great-great-great grandmother and her name actually was Lutetia Willis Howel and she is buried in Mount Holly Cemetery here in Little Rock. I have in my possession several letters she wrote to her husband during the war and some of the silver tableware engraved with her initials which were part of the valuables she had hidden and refused to give up. I am a direct descendant through her son John Bright Howel who went to Hondo County,TX around 1882 after closing his store on E. Main St. in Little Rock. I have some letters from him also. I would love to get in touch with descendants of her daughter Sallie (Sarah Elizabeth) Howel Jordan who was the widow of Pleasant Jordan, Attorney General of Arkansas in 186l who died in 1863 who wrote this sketch. She went to TX also.

Great website, I enjoyed the section about women during the war. And even if I didn't find the ancestors I was looking for, it's still a very informative site, Keep up the good work. This may not be the place to make inquiries, but here goes....

If anyone reading this comes across any of the following, please let me know, I am at a dead end.

Charles Frederick Fornash (Forinash) (m) Mary Jane Massie (Massey) on 3-3-1893. Both died around 1905? Need names / any information about their children, may have had 6 to 8 children?

Ruby Kathleen Rodgers (Rogers) (b) 7-1912, I think her father's name was James Clayburn Rodgers (Rogers?) her mother Sussy (Susanna?) Ann Foster (Forester?)(b)1886. My mother recalls she had a brother named Clyde. would like information about both parents such as their DOB/DOD Marriage date, who their parents were. Anything would be of help.

It's impossible to understand why there is nothing on my grandfather-O.C. He resided in Pope county, Pulaski county and Johnson county. All I have been able to find is a couple of references on census records and one on a biography. His history was Arkansas' history for a few years. He ran 3 different newspapers in above mentioned counties. Why isn't there more on this man??? Dell G. Ludwig - Grandson.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am in the process of researching my family history, and I am looking for any information on the surnames "Lockhart" or "Starks" in Little Rock history. I've only gotten as far
as my great-grandfather, Lional Clarence Lockhart (9/30/1889 - 12/20/1946), his brother, Clayton Lockhart and my great-grandmother, Leora Lockhart (2/3/1893 - 7/10?/1945.) I know that they had a total of twelve children (9 living and 3 stillborn,) and they lived at 509 W. 25th St., Little Rock, Arkansas until the house was destroyed by fire sometime after 1924. I would appreciate any help you
could provide.

Respectfully,

Dr. Dana L. Slaughter

My search is for Hiram LEWIS, who came from England sometime between 1800-1850, married Sarah EVANS, who is reported to have been born in Arkansas. They had several children, most who died in infancy. One son lived, George Anderson LEWIS
born 1856 and died 1943, Little Rock.
We have not been able to locate any information on how Hiram LEWIS got from England to Arkansas, however we believe it was the promise of land.
Hiram LEWIS' farm, as well as thed land of George Anderson LEWIS is said to be under the air base/airport property.
The earliest document I have for George Anderson LEWIS when he was the informant for the Death Certificate of his father-in-law, Isaac Abner REYNOLDS who died 1 March 1925
The family was living in the Jacksonville, AR area.
George Anderson LEWIS' wife was Mozella REYNOLDS born 18 December 1861, and died ??
I have checked all of your posted census indeces, as well as all of the posted cemetery interments.
