Hi Diane,

Just recently started looking for Jean stuff so I revisited your website. It is amazing how much work you have done. Quite different than when I first visited years ago. I am going to go through the pertinent parts for me and see if I have anything that you don't have or that disagrees with what you have. It will take a while but I will get back to you.

Your web site is truly overwhelming. Congratulations.

Amazing! This afternoon I was just curious to see how far I could trace back the Jean family and found your site. Thank you so much for your hard work to put this together. I never expected to learn that John Jean was my gggg grandfather today. Thank you!

I was born in College Station, TX to Randall Jean, son of Buford Jean (146). I never thought that I would live anywhere but TX. A year ago, my family and I moved to Hickory, NC. I was blown away to learn that John Jean was born in North Carolina. I don't feel so far from home any more.

I'd love to hear from other Jeans.

Thank you so much for putting the scans of the births, marriages and deaths from the Kight family bible on-line. I can not express the thrill I had when those images popped and up and I could see the original handwriting recording the birth and death of my great, great-grandfather John M. Kight.

I so appreciate your willingness to share and giving me the opportunity.

I emailed you some info and I wonder if you could email me the current tree for the Jean Family that you have that also includes the Tennessee Jeans. The Samuel Jeans that is shown in early colonial records of Ga was quite a land owner in Georgia in the 1750s and 60s. I wonder if your tree might identify him?

Hi. my dad was Marshall Rite Jean, #55, one of my older brothers has his name spelled wrong, its Joseph Kenneth Jean, the one born in 1934, however, that'a okay. Just wanted to correct that, there was a lot to remember, and thanks for putting it out. There's only 3 of us left, Brodus, myself, and Gordon. It was Gordon who sent me a copy, and suggested that I go on the website to get the rest and that it is interesting reading. Thank you.

I am related to Lewis Marion Barker. My Grandfather was born in Haralson Co.,GA Barkers moved to Tx b4 it was a state. My sister and myself have traced them across the south. Some ended up in Yel Co, AR and Dequeen, AR. I find it kind of neat that your family ended up in the same areas as mine. Amanda died in Merkel, TX Maybe they traveled together since they were family thru marriage. My sister knows more about this. I am just trying to find where Lewis marion Barker came from. Barkers came into DE abt 1680. They moved to NC and GA. My sisters email is pittvin@zeronet.net. I will give her your address. Maybe you can compare notes. Happy Trails, Rick

Great site! I have sent the address to several of my Jeane family members. I have seen a few mistakes on my line, so if you ever update or correct here they are.
Henry Author (not Arthur) Jeane
Lue Vira Calcote (not Lou Vira)
Lue Ella Jeane (not Lou Ella)
I am the granddaughter of Henry and Lue. My mother is Henrietta Jeane. We are of the Henry Wilson, William Pamplin line.
I know it is one of those in NC somewhere around Stokes. In the 1790 Census fo Guilford Co., there were four Jean/Jeans listed, Edward, William, William SR., and Phillip. I did find a will dated 31 Oct 1803, Stokes Co.,NC for a William Jeans leaving his estate to his children including a John Jean. Could this be our John?

When this most informative and professional Jean site was established out of your own love, care and concern in rendering assistance to others, I felt it was as professional and informative as it could possibly become, as you had placed yourself in a position of the highest level of service to others, their need to know from whence they came, who they are, and the blood that flows within their veins - but over the months, I've watched your Jean site flourish to the success you wish it to be, and know it will continue to flourish and embelish to the ultimate peak of success. I've had the opportunity to continue working and sharing with you, what knowledge I have on my Jean family, which is very little as opposed to your knowledge. I continue to encourage anyone with any knowledge on their Jean and connecting lines, to share with Diane, so that each and every cut of the puzzle can be fitted appropriately, which in turn, will afford "You" the person seeking further knowledge on their own Jean line, to become more knowledgeable - through the tireless dedication of Diane's work, of which she has rendered selflessly "For You, and For Us All". Sincerely - Hazel Kidd Lawson

I am the fourth of eleven children of Raymond Adrien Jean, son of Joseph Adrien Jean, son of Edmond Jean who died in the 1920's in Common Fence Point, Rhode Island.

... fascinating to read about a Southern pioneer family with the surname, which we have always assumed to be of French Canadian origin. Looks like many Jeans of a Creole species in Louisiana, from the cemetery records you provide.

Good work, fun reading.

Do you know where in N.C. your John was from? I surfed into your site on a "Hardy Hopson" search, and found it interesting that two of his children have names also associated with the last name Hopson. Hardy and his sons were in Troup, Monroe, Meriweather and Coweta counties at about the same time. We have not been able to find where Hardy was born, although one son says he was born in the Carolina's.
