I recently moved away from my home in Iowa. My father died at age 74 and went to live with my brother. My biological mother is to unmotherly like to take care of me. I am proud of my family name. My father was always proud, and was always talking about it. In our basement, we have the Denman Coat of Arms. I don't know who gave that to use, but it is pretty neat. I'm in summer school right know and we're doing a scavenger hunt. the question is "Using your surname, determine what country you ancestors came from. Copy the coat of arms for your last name (surname) and make it approximately the size of a postage stamp" I have already gotten the coat of arms.

I have some photos of the Denman family from Paxton, IL. I no longer have the hard copies of the photos but I scanned them into my computer before giving them to another DENMAN descendent. I happened upon the photos by accident. My father purchased an old photo album at a flea market in IL. He then gave it to me as I like old photos. I was able to identify a few of the people as they had names on the back of a few photos. Let me know if you would like me to email you the photos - there are about 25-30 of them.

I know very little about my grandfather, who was as far as I know, Arthur Allen I. My father who was in the USMC on Iowa Jima was known to me as Arthur Allen Sr. He won a purple heart and received telegram of his first born while on the island.He passed away on Dec. 7, 1998. I served 22 years in the US Secret Service protecting 5 US presidents, retiring 1998. I have never even seen a photograph of my grandfather who passed away when my father was a child. I've heard that he was an optometrist in Laconia,NH with roots possibly in Green or Greene, Maine.
