Hi Bob,
I have been doing some digging & I found that my Dad's great-grandmother,whose maiden name was Justina Ferreria(smith)has on the death certificate John Smith & Frances Marks. I know that Justina was 100% Portuguese & was one of the exile families. I saw you had posted a picture of a Mrs. Marks from Springfield. What if any info do have on her or where you got it? Thanks, Jane

Ran across your website while researching my family history. My grandmother was Katherine Rose Ornellos born 10/20/1886 in Jacksonville, IL. Her father was Antonio Francisco De Ornellos born 8/5/1845 in Medeira, Portugal near Funchal. Her mother was Caroline "Carrie" "Escorse" Scott born 11/5/1851 in Jacksonville, IL. Antonio's father was Francisco De Ornellas born in Madeira and his mother was Luvew or Lucelia Olliver also born in Madeira. Caroline Scorse Scott's parents were Joseph Escorse born 1/15/1816 in Madiera and her mother was Justina Vieira born in Madiera. Both of these died in Jacksonville. I'm unsure when my grandfather Antonio De Ornellos came to Jacksonville. I do know that they were Prebsyterian. I have found the history of the Portugese community that settled in Jacksonville, IL very interesting.

Thanks for the maps of the trail and river around Dawson, Lake Linderman, Whitehorse, Bennett etc! I have over 100 letters between my grandmother and grandfather,1899-1900 and later in 1914 to my great grandmother. My grandfather and his brothers, N.P.Shaw and Bros., supplied meats to the goldminers..your great grandfather?..out of Skagway, Bennett City & Dawson. As I read and transcribe the letters for my family I look up historical info and maps to support our history. I am so grateful for your addtion.....

It was very touching. I hope Mr. Ferreira that since 2002 you've found more things about your relatives. Madeira is a very beautiful island.

Your web site is very wierd and also confusing. I think that you need to add more stuff about you to the web site. You need to add stories about your self to the web site instead of having people go to theses places and looking at it and having no clue at all what you are like and when/where you where born. All I'm saying is that you need to add more stories to the web site then it would be a better web site.
