I am trying to find the crest of my family, and can not find it anywhere else.
If you have any information where can I find the crest, I am coming into contact me by email.
From now thank

Any help you might offer will be appreciated.

Are we related? If so, how? Mary Ann Barbara LeFevre

Comments:
Mary Ann Barbara LeFevre b. 1813 married Jacob Lane in Allegheny Co., PA. abt 1828. She was the daughter of Peter LeFevre m. to Agnes Curry. Peter was the son of George LeFevre <Philip, Isaac, Andrew, Philip, Jon, Mengen>

Mary Ann Barbara Lefevre was Jim's third great grandmother. Jim's line is through Mary Ann's son, James Rieves Lane (b. 1847) and Sarah Jane Booth.

Also, Jim is distantly related to Margaret LeFevre, b. abt 1732, (NY line). Margaret was from John (Isaac, Simon, Andrew, Philip, Jon, Mengen)m. to Christina Wentz. Margaret LeFevre married John Van Etten abt. 1757 in PA, and their daughter, Sara Van Etten, m. Shadrach Lane. I am still trying to figure out how Shadrach lane is connected to Jacob Lane that was married to Mary Ann Barbara LeFevre. I believe that Shadrach's brother, John, b. 1785 in Delaware may be Jacob's father, or Shadrach may be Jacob's father.

Shadrach's father is reportedly Garret Lane. Anyway, Margaret Lefevre's daughter, Sara Van Etten Lane's daughter was Susannah Lane that married Nicholas Schoonhoven. Susannah and Nicholas's son was Lewis Schoonover that accompanied the Jacob Lanes to Mason Co., IL from PA in 1842.

This gets a little confusing! If you have any further information on Margaret LeFevre's daughter, Sara Van Etten, m. to Shadrach Lane and the connection to Jacob Lane and Mary Ann Barbara LeFevre I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
Jim and Judy Fillerup

My father, Richard John Le Fevre, said that this was our family crest, so I looked at the geneology and do not see anyone I recognise from our family Bible. I think our family Bible came from my father's mother's side because Andrew Jackson's mother is in it and I didn't see any Le Fevre's until later on. I will look again, but my grandfather was Harold John Le Fevre. I don't know what his father's name was.

Abraham (1750) married Catherena Zink) Their 3rd child of seven was my ancestor Andrew Wesley LaFever, (b. 1774, d.1847)
Andrew Wesley (1774) married Nancy Ard in 1796 at Washington, VA.
Andrew Wesley Lafever (1774) and Nancy Ard (maybe Ord) had 10 children, the fourth being my paternal great-great grandfather Eli LaFever (born 1803) and and the 8th being my maternalG-G-G Grandfather Asher LaFever.
Through Eli (1803) I am descended from his daughter Talitha (1835( LaFever Parsley, who died when my Grandmother Polly Ann Parsley Sherrell was born in 1858. Polly Ann married William Jordan Sherrell, Sr., bore my father William Jorden Sherrell, Jr. in 1895 plus five dughters.
On my mother's side, Asher Lafever (b. 1812 and brother of above Eli) married Ellen Ann Carwell about 1829 and bore Thomas Samuel LaFever (b. 1830) and a girl.
Thomas Samuel Lafever (1830) married Rachel Trobaugh in 1850 in TN., and they born 10 children, the second being my maternal Great-Grandfather, Asher LaFever (b. 1850)
Asher LaFever (1850) married my Great-Grandmother Canzada Elrod in 1870, and they bore ten children, the second being my maternal grandfather, Andrew J. LaFever. His daughter Mary Canzada (b. 1900) married my father, William J. Sherrell, Jr. son of the above mention Polly Ann Parsley Sherrell.

I am 75 years old, and I remember metting many of the old LaFevers. I also met Canzada Elrod LaFever when I was a small child. I have a faded picture of all Asher and Canzada's children as adults, about 1910 or so. There is a great display of LaFever pottery at the Applachian Museum in Norris, TN. It is mostly from the family of Asher LaFever (b.1850), whose children lived mostly in the Baxter, TN. area.
I hope this information is right. I knew back through Abraham LaFever (d. 1808), and hope the further back things are correct. There must be million of LaFevers in America!

After my grandfather died, my grandmother, Lillian Burke Arold married Augustus Whelan b. Oct. 6, 1883, d. 8-8-1949. Both Lillian and Gus are buried in Holy Cross Cemetery. Gus Whelan was a fireman appointed FDJC Dec. 21st, 1911 to Engine Company 17 at 110 Boyd Ave, J.C. They had three sons: Augustin born 5-15-1916, John K. born 11-28-1918 and Thos J born 12-18-20 (he died as a young child).

My mother said that Augustin Whelan was related to a Whelan from Jersey City who had political pull. She said that's how Gus Whelan was able to get a fireman's job in Jersey City. If this tale makes sense to you, please let me know. Also,if you think we are related, please respond.

I have Flemings buried in Holy Name Cemetery in JC: however I don't think there is a connection between our Flemings. I recently had occasion to be in Jersey City and came across Saint Peter's Cemetery, which is on Rt 1&9. Since I had Flemings who attended St Peter's church in Jersey City I thought this cemetery might be worth a look see. So about 2 weeks later I went back...anyway I did see a WHELAN Tombstone and I think it had the name William Whelan on it and had no other writing on it what so ever. (I have Whelan's from Queens Co/Lackawaxen Pa/Montclair NJ)
This cemetery is old and in a deserted and unsafe area-when I went I brought my German Shepard and still did not feel too safe. There was a telephone numer to contact hanging on the fence which I did not copy. I think you can get burial info from St. Peter's Church - if not the record are almost definitely at Seton Hall Univ.
Anyway I hope this helped.

I am trying to research my ancestor Margaretta LeFebvre (LeFevre) who was supposedly born in 1809 in Strasburg France. She had a sister Caroline who married James Thall in Towanda PA and a brother Charles Napoleon LeFebvre.

Family story says she is the niece of Marshall Francois Joseph LeFebvre - Duke of Danzig and second in command to Napoleon.

Haven't been able to learn Margaretta's parents names althoug recently found information that says her father was mortally wounded at the Battle of Waterloo, her mother remarried before they came to the US. Settled in Dushore PA intially, then in Cherry Twp PA.

Any information appreciated.

I recently found a half 3rd cousin once removed who is descended from the first family of my Irish Reynolds immigrant to Jersey City, NJ. My roots stem from his second family.

At any rate, she and I are swapping information (I'm interested in the first family because some of them were born in Ireland, so maybe tracing them will tell us from where in Ireland) and one of her ancestors married a JC Whelan. She's from the Edward branch, the likely immigrant brother to William Henry Sr. Edward married Julia Reynolds, a daughter of our mutual immigrant Reynolds. Follow all that???

What is the url of your website, if you have one? n/a
Comments:
James,
I am working on the Messenkop family (my father's) I also head the Messenkop family Association formed in 2000 with some 14 other "cousins" and we are in the process of writing a book on the Messenkop family and their alied relatives. Included is LeFevre & Ferre families as they are related by marriage to us.
I have two questions for you:
1. How can I get copies of some of the LeFevre photos to incorporate in our book? (proper recognition and credit will be given)

2. Could you help me find a Jane LeFevre? This is what I have so far: Marriage Licenses, Guernsey Co., OH", Vol. C, 1831-1844
ACPL
977.101
G93ma

On page 25 it lists:
Jacob Martin and Jane Lefever with a date of 25 Oct 1841.
No. 3822; Pg 383

Jacob Martin, born about 1817 in Belmont or Guernsey County, OH, married a person named 'Jane'. So far, I've proven no surname for her. From a Census record, I calculated their approximate marriage date:

In the 1850 Union Twp., Monroe Co., OH Census, their first child, John W. was age 6, which calculates to a birthyear of about 1843-44. This could indicate Jacob and Jane's marriage as about 1842-43.
I found no Lefevers in Belmont or Guernsey County Census Indexes.

Any help or suggestion on both these questions would be greatly appreciated. I will traveling during August 10-20th so any communication before or after these date, I can get back to you then.

Thank you,
Joyce M. Stellick

You've undertaken a monumental task. My question, of course: How do I fit in among all these other Clabby's and Flynn's, etc., etc. I once thought Clabby to be a rare name. At this point in time, I'm beginning to think there are nearly as many Clabby's as there are Johnson's or Smith's. With best regards, Jim Clabby

Are we related? If so, how? Yes, My g.g.greatgrandfather was James Harvey Knapp, brother to Samuel.
Comments:
I would love to hear from you, hoping that you might
have some information on my family. Edmund H. Knapp
was my greatgreatgrandfather and his daughter was my
greatgrandmother Rose Knapp. Rose married Oliver Atwall
Allen and they moved to San Bernardino Calif. My grand-
mother Edna Allen Rockwood was born in Homer, Michigan
and meet my grandfather Sidney Hunt Rockwood in Calif.
Finding information on Rose Knapp has been very difficult
as she died in 1889 in San Bernardino and I am not sure
that my father even knew about her. He always refered
to his grandmother as Sarah, who was Olivers second wife.
You have a great site and I have b some pictures of Henry
Knapp and also Edmund, if you would like a copy.
Thanks.

Are we related? If so, how? through Louw and Roosa families
Comments:
I am delighted to have found your page. Please keep me in mind when you get your Roosa page up and running. I descend from Peter Louw and Gertrude Vernooy. I also descend from Jan Van Etten who married as a second wife one of the LeFevres and died in North Carolina. It has always puzzled me that he so purposfully wrote his first family out of his will. If you have any information on that line would you please share it with me. I can be much more specific, it is just that I do not have my notes in front of me right now. In the meantime, thanks for you pages, I certainly appreciate the documentation!
