He was born to Mary Francis Norris Furr and Leon Wilson Furr in Savannah, Georgia on October 8, 1934. Lee attended Lakeland High School in Lakeland, FL where we swam for their swim team. MSG Furr served in the United States Army from 1956 until July, 1976. MSG Furr was a helicopter crew chief. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal, both with V Devices for Heroism, a second Bronze Star and numerous other medals during his three years of combat service in Vietnam during which time he fought in 11 of the 17 named campaigns. Israel J. Furr was my GGG Grandfather. He enlisted in the Confederate Army on 9-3-1862 at the age of 32 (old for then) and left behind his wife, Margaret Scott, and 5 children (1 had just been born). He died during the Civil War 4 months later on 1-31-1863 at Hanover Junction, Virginia of Pneumonia. His daughter, Serena, was just 8 when he died.

I think her name was Scott not sure. I have not been able to connect for sure but I know that my grandfather was Marshall Furr and in the 1880 census in Delta Co Tx. it shows that his father and mother was born in North Carolina.
The only Tobias Furr who married a Mary was the son of Daniel Furr and Sopia Widenhouse. If anyone can verify this please contact me. I have run into a wall. I don't know where Tobias and Mary are buried or where they were when they died.

Have not spent much time yet on Furr. Spent most of my time on my Father's side with Caproni to get back four generations into Italy. May have to stroke the palms of priests to go back further there.

Elizabeth had a brother by the name of Robert, who was lost at sea in a Navy Sub. I don't know when or where his submarine went down, or what war he was in or if it was during peace time.

here is some information on the descentdents of clyde furr and phronia furr. their children roscoe furr was married 2 times the first wife don't know her name but they did have a child named virginia furr. however his second wife was christine bumgarner furr they had 5 children together they are clinet jerome furr, roscoe david bumgarner, remondia gay bumgarner, wayne coe furr, ann christy furr grogan. they have 3 grandchildren; christina bumgarner humphrey, billy bumgarner, matthew grogan. they also have 4 great grandchildren; cynthia humphrey, brittany humphrey, tyler humphrey, and solamon bumgarner.
now for the life of roscoe furr with christine. they lived in ashe county,nc as a couple. self employed with their own store and produce stand for most of 1960-1980. but then for unknown reasons they decided it was time to move to wilkes county, nc. where then they lived in several different communities in wilkes county, but as the youngest twins whom 1 is my husband wayne and his twin ann approached their high school years in the 1990's. they settled into a home that the family built in the mulberry mills area of wilkes county. they lived in the small family home til both their death in 2001. they passed on 21 days apart of each other. roscoe passed in feb. 2001, from stomach cancer, and christine passed on in march 2001, from emphysema.
also information regarding his brother paul furr, is typically the same as living in ashe county, nc and in the early 1980's moved to wilkes county, to be near his brother, whom til roscoe death in 2001 they remained very close. however paul is still living he is reaching the age of 80. he was married a couple of times but not sure of really how many and whom they was; however he does have 2 children. marty furr and marlena furr whom is married with kids but not sure how many they both reside in concord, nc.
for my husband wayne and i live in a small community in wilkes county called ferguson, his oldest brother clinet furr and wife anita lives in lenior, nc; his next to the older brother roscoe lives with his girlfriend, amanda faircloth reside in cricket, nc.; his oldest sister remondia and her boyfriend, david mcneil reside in the family home in mulberry mills, nc, for wayne's twin sister ann she and her husband chris grogan and their son mathew live in hudson, nc. as for the grandchildren, christina humphrey resides with her husband greg humphrey and their 3 kids in warnersville, nc and billy bumgarner resides with his fiancee jenny rose in ashe county, nc. as for billy's son solamon he resides with his mom in ashe county, also.

John Rudolf Furrer, is my great grandfather. He married Elizabeth Barbara Feldman, March 1869, than the same year emmigrated to U.S., New York, New York. They lived there for four (4) years, than came to Toledo, Ohio, where they raised their family. Elizabeth, was born in Aurau, Zurich, Switzerland, in 1850. John, first came the U.S., in 1865, according to the original certificate "Intent to Become a Citizen", that I have.
I have been trying, to locate him on a passenger list (or anywhere). Than, maybe with a lot of luck, I can go back further and find any brothers or sisters, he may have had. His mother and father, and so on. Than maybe I can locate some relatives still living in Switzerland.
My 12 year old granddaughter is very interested in genealogy, and she and I have set out to do parental and maternal sides of our family. With her interest, I'll be able to rest assured, that my family will never be forgotten.

Crittenton Furr came out of Uvalde Texas, which is down below Del Rio,Texas. Crittenton was with the only TEXAS UNION CALVARY to serve with North during the war between the States. Aunt Minnie Furr-Cantwell and Uncle Bob Furr told me at a Family reunion in Hope,New Mexico in 1956 Crittenton seen a brother that was with theConfederate Army. They went into no's man land and visited for awhile and they return to their own units. After the war was over Crittenton return home and later return back to Uvalde Texas with his family.

One of Paul and Mary Furr's daughters, Catherine Furr,
married Christopher H. Orsburn in 1807 in Cabarrus
County, N.C. They are my g.g.grandparents, who moved
from N.C. to Dallas County, Ala, in 1818.
The will of Catherine's mother, Mary, indicates a riff
between them (Caty was cut out of the will). Does any-
one know any family stories that indicate why this
happened? Would by happy to hear from someone about
this, or any other info about the family.

I am a grand daughter of John Wilson Furr, born in NC in August, 1865. I can not determine for certain who his parents were. John Wilson Furr came to AR as a young man and married Tessora Prince of Bismarck, AR in the late 1890's and died in February, 1939. If anyone has a clue about who his parents were, please contact me.
