My great grandmother on my maternal gradnmother's side was a Mendenhall. Her name was Rose Etta Mendenhall Baughman of Randolph County, Indiana (died and buried in Redkey). I have what is said to be one of two copies of a Mendenhall family history written in the early to mid 1900s. My grandma's cousin, Virgil Heniser, son of Alice Melissa Mendenhall Heniser Allman gave it to me before he passed away in 1987/88. I would love to know my direct line to the Mendenhalls beyond my great grandma. It is too difficult to trace in the book I have because there is no index and I do not know enough about the family to find my line. I would appreciate some help! Thanks so much!

I am seeking the line of descendancy from Ann Mendenhall who
married the well-known botanist of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
in the mid-1770's (?). I have the complete list of the Bartram side, but have reason to believe that from the bottom
up I may be related to a local citizen of Upper Lake, California named Adolphus Mendenhall. I have no tolerance for
the genealogical maze, so if there is an appropriate resource
that the lay person can navigate, please let me know.
Respectfully,
Janet Cawn

My father--LeoPendletonJoelMendenhall--born11-13-1923--died05-02-1998--son of George Mendenhall and Nellie Clark(Mendenhall)I was born--08-31-1947 in KC,Mo.--At one time many years ago, I had the pleasure of viewing a very very old, leather bound family record book hand printed on what appeared to be many different kinds of fabric and material. The information dated back to the mid 1400's and obviously recorded through the years by many different hands, possibly as new pages were added and the responsibility was also passed down. Anyway, it is my understanding we are all related in one way or another; if our name spelling is "MENDENHALL", origionally respected English Farmers, Healers, land holders and, the name served a purpose as employers of laborers who were paid at the end of each month in a smsll den at the end of a long hall thereby keeping the workers away from any of the female family members and small children for safety. Hence----the work-Men-were in the-Den-down the-Hall---MEN-DEN-HALL. I do believe that our ancesters also had good humor levels being passed down from generation to generation as well. Unfortunately I do not know which family member the book was passed on to or if it still exists. If anyone knows please protect it for us all. thank you for caring about family.

Have found a Frank Mendenhall in Salem, but he has an unlisted phone so it will cost to try to locate him to tell him of our 50th class reunion in October of this year. Two of my ancestors, Margaret STRANG who married Thomas BELFRAGE August 1807 New Monkland, Lanark, Scotland, are mentioned in an IGI film, number 177897. The film title is: "Baptisms for the dead, 1884-1943; heir indexes,
1884-1955 Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Logan Temple". There is an enormous number of references to persons with the surnames BELFRAGE and BEVERIDGE and variant spellings. John B Jardine is cited as relative for almost all of these entries. So, I'm backing a longshot. Your site is the only one I have been able to find with a reference to John B Jardine in the context of family history. Do you know if those entries were made by the John B Jardine whose grave is pictured at your website?

I am trying to get past James and Rebecca Adams, and think they might have come there on Rev War land warrants, but don't really know.
