My Great grandmother, was Dora Lammert Moeller. I visited Broken bow MANY years ago, and in a history book, it told that Dora Lammert Moeller had traveled to from Oshkosh, NE to attend her brother, Henry's funeral.
My grandmother, Lena, had grown up thinking she was a biological child of Fred and Dora Moeller's until the day of her marriage. She was then informed she was legally "Lena Lammert" and was the illagetiment. (sp)?
When she died, I found letters from cousins on the Lammert side from Alliance, NE. If any of this sounds familiar or you can let me know of any Lammerts I can contact, it would be greatly appreciated.
Our family has the"Von Willebrand"blood disorder. the doctors are baffled because their tests show that there is at least two seperate blood lines there married that had the disorder. My I have a brother, two neices and a nephew with this. One niece is coming up with total different numbers on these blood tests and the doctors are totally puzzled on how to treat her.
Any info you can send or members of the Lammert family in NE- the Callaway, Broken Bow, Grand Island and Alliance Ne areas are the areas of NE that I know they all had once lived.

Hi Mona, My husband's SCHNOOR family ties in with you somehow. His great-grandfather, Jacob Schnoor, of Burg, Schleswig-Holstein, came to New Jersey and took up fishing for a living. The men in our Jacob's family were "Kahnfahrers" in Burg. They drove the little "kahns" (barges) down the rivers and waterways to the River Elbe, carrying products like peat, which was used for fuel in those days. We see on your wonderful webpage that our Jacob had a second cousin named Hans Jakob Schnoor, who came to Amherst, Nebraska. Our Jacob and your Jacob had grandfathers who were brothers. So, my husband (and children) are related to any descendents of "your" Jacob. I see (in my admittedly unsourced research) that your Jacob's sister Abel Maria Magdalena Schnoor died in Denison, Iowa. I wonder if any other of his siblings came over?
Anyway, wonderful work, organized, creative, and sourced! The best part is the sourcing, Mona. You are an inspiration.

Dear Mona Hauser,
I am very interested in the German connections of my family. Like you, I have made a genealogy trip to Germany.
I have some questions for you.
What do you know about Louise Lehmann? Any possible connection to the Lehmanns from Alt Lietzegöricke? The Lehmanns probably attended the same Altlutheran Church in Alt Rüdnitz that the Fellwocks attended.
Was Fellwock misspelled as Tellnock on some emigration records?
I enjoyed the reminiscences of ____ Fellwock, especially the telling of the religious freedom issues in Nahausen.
There may be a Witte connection also. Speculation on this. I know there was only one child there in the late 1700s.
I originally am from Watertown, WI (Dodge County) and live in St. Paul, MN at this time.
I'll send you my notes if you respond.
Thanks.

I'm curious when my mother shared this information. This is the first time I've seen these pages. My home email is listed above. I can also be reached at anjeo@uaa.alaska.edu My home phone is (907) 258-9687 and my work phone is (907) 257-2717. I grew up in Newton, Iowa and am now the Hill/Rees/Prouty contact for my family. Hi!
I've lived in Palo Alto, CA, for the last 30 years. Last spring, on a trip to the east coast along I-80, I came across "Palo Alto" on the navigation map on my car. Intrigued by a Spanish name showing up in the middle of Iowa, I decided to explore and came across the Palo Alto United Presbyterian Church and the cemetary across the street. I talked briefly with the very nice lady living next to the church, but she was not able to tell me anything about the history of "Palo Alto" or whether there was any more to Palo Alto than the church or the cemetary. I gathered that it was now part of the town (city?) of Newton.
A google search led me to your fascinating website with its picture of the church. Thank you for your work in posting the information. It confirms for me that I was not halucinating!!!
Cordially,

Your site is so easy to read that I enjoyed the hunt even though I didn't find any names I was looking for: Wittenberg, Voland, Meyer.
My grandmother was Emma Voland Meyer, the daughter of Charles Voland and Anna Wittenberg Voland. Anna is supposed to be from the Wittenberg family with connections to the woolen mill in Cedarberg. I am completely clueless as to what the connection would be. I also understand there is a connection on the Voland side to a farm in Mequon that was in that family for 105 years as of 1948. The info I have is just from family talk, and a few notes. Perhaps you know someone I could contact. I am a widow living in Washington state with a disabled daughter and so am not really free to travel. I really enjoy geneology and have been able to do much of my late husband's family and mine using the internet, but sure find it frustrating when I run into these "brick walls"...Again, congradulations on such a nice site...Linda King

What a wonderful job you've done. I enjoyed the pictures very much. I have nothing like this and I believe part of the reason is that people tended to stay put when living on a farm. My families lived in big cities and moved from one rented house to another. And you know how things get lost every time you move.

I was glad to see the information on William (Fred. W. A.) Gerke who was married to Sophie Haugk. In case you'd like it, here is some additional information on her.
Therese Emilie Sophie Haugk was born 12-11-1878 in Union Township, Adams County, IN to Friedrich August and Dorathea (Daul) Haugk. She was baptized on December 22 at Immanuel Lutheran Church (Union Township). Church records list her sponsors, but I was unable to decipher them. She died October 6, 1956. William and Sophie lived in Waynedale, which is on the southside of Fort Wayne. They had three children:
Oscar Gerke b. 10-9-1903; d.October 1971
Norma Gerke b. 8-25-1910; d. May 1975
(She married Sylvester Heller b. 9-3-1908; d. July 1981)
Edgar Gerke b. 1-1-1912
I have additional information on the Haugk family, but what I've given you is maybe more than you can use.
Thanks for sharing all of your hard work.

The only Sasse's I could find that left Dodge, Shawano, and Oconto Wisconsin counties, are Fred, William and son Harry that went back and forth to Washington in 1903. The "Oconto County Reporter" stated that William sold his farm to his Divorced Wife for $2,000.00. I'm assuming that she was Louise b. 1835. According to the 1860 Census in Theresa, Dodge Co. she's on the farm with sons Carl, August, and Ernest. And also Johan Fellwock age 60, b. 1800. (Is that Louise's father?) Please email me. Thanks, Judy
