Earliest Known Ancestor Jacob Halstead
They were from Harrow, Ontario, Canada
Born about 1769 in Pittstown, Rensellor, NY
Comments:
Jacob Halstead was my Great, great, great grandfather and was a farmer and I understand a barber in Brownstown Twp., MI. during the 1850 (could have been earlier) to the time of his death in 1877. He migrated to Canada probably during the American Revelution, but came over to Brownstown, Michigan to live. Several other members of the family migrated to Brownstown also. I'm not sure who came first. We haven't been able to find out where he is buried.
Perhaps you can help. There is a statement that we can not prove and that is he was 108 years old when he died. Any information you can get us would be appreciated. Also, can I join the Downriver Genealogical Society using a credit card? Thanks, Christine Johnson

95% of my family tree is French Canadian.I just retired. I would like to start researching the Brohl Family in Wyandotte. I live about 4 or 5 blocks from St. Johns. The main reason I am contacting you now is that I need to find out the hours and telephone number of the Mormon Church on Grange Rd. I need to order some microfilms. I thought maybe you could help me with that number. They don't answer the numbers I've called. I'll be at your July meeting. I just found out about you on the internet.

Earliest Known Ancestor Marie Cecelia Odette
They were from Quebec
Born about 1870
Comments:
My grandmother was Marguerite Cecelia Odette married to Carlton Blaine Thompson. Carlton was from Maine, Marguerite was from Quebec. Marguerite had Blackfoot Indian ancestors as well as French. Carlton B. Thompson and Marguerite moved to Rhode Island and had 8 children - 7 boys and 1 girl. On my grandfather's side (Carlton), his earliest ancestor was David Thompson who came from Scotland as an agent of Mason & Georges in the spring of 1623 he began a settlement at Little Harbor near the mouth of Piscatoqua (spelling?) near the present site of Portsmouth, Maine. About 1626 he took possession of an island in Boston Harbor still called to this day "Thompson's Island".
