I re-read the information about my father, Charles Albert Nelson, son of Frances Alamantine Overstreet Nelson and Thomas Washington Nelson. His birth information is not correct, either.
He was born in Harriman, Tennessee on 17 June 1899 and died on 31 August 1988 in Houston, Harris County, Texas.
Thanks! Linda W.

Hi, I have been researching info on Samuel Edward Riggs, who married Fairbie Overstreet for my cousin, who is a granddaughter. Apparently her mother Stella was alienated from the family. She remembers her mother saying that her grandpa was in prison for killing a man. She especially wants to know about that. If you can help it would be appreciated, and I can update you on Stella's family.

I can add some of the Riggs info to this list.Sam was my great grandfather,I ahve heard 2 stories about his supposed jail time,my dad(Ralph)said it was over a card game,I was going to name my second child Samuel, but he begged me not to!!Sams parents were Joseph and Magaret(Breashers)They were divorced,he is buried in the Riggs family cemetery, not sure where, alot of the grave markers were destroyed by cattle or vandals over the years.Basil Breashers is buried in the Breashers family cemetery not far from the Riggs cemetery,He was Josephs father in law and from what I can gather he owned alot of what is now sugar grove valley. My grandfather was John Edward,he died when I was 1 year old,he is buried along with Walter in oak grove cemetery in Rockwood TN.

What a surprise to put Grandma's name into google, Katherine Overstreet Elliott, and find this site. I remember seeing the picture of her, Grandpa and Uncle Harry years ago. I never met Grandma as she passed away when I was a baby and I've always regreted that. One point, her daughter Bettye, my mother, never spelled her middle name Jayne as far as I know - simply Jane.

I am the son of James Alfred O., son of William Alfred O. I forget the order of the earlier fathers but they include the names of Henry, John, Richard, as well as the later names in various combinations. They all lived in Virginia and were decendents of an Overstreet who imigrated to Chesterfield County,Virginia prior to the Decloration of Independce.
This is a very interesting web page. My grandfather always said that God must love the Overstreets because he created so many of them. He would have been suprised to know that there were so many of them outside Virginia.

My tie to William Calvin is through his son William A., who is my great grandfather. William A.'s son, Estill Claude (E.C.) Overstreet is my grandfather. He died when I was 2, so I did not get to know him. I think you may have his name differnt that Estill Claude. E.C. is what is on his tombstone in the Clarkrange Cemetery, Clarkrange, TN

Or, I'd be glad to exchange photos. My contributions on the site are of John Little Overstreet and his wife Martha Yarbrough Overstreet; Vian Farr Overstreet and the children, and the Bible pages from Mary Jane Overstreet's

I'm especially interested in a good copy of William Calvin's picture and the first generation of children.

Howdy Pat,
Just checking out your site. I descend from
Elias O bn abt 1780, believed to be the one found on Richmond Co Census in 1810 and 1820. The reason I can't be sure is all his children were supposed to be born in SC. Either they were actually bn in NC or he moved back and forth between NC and SC.I descend from his son William Joseph bn SC abt 1804. They migrated to AL inn 1828 where Elias died. William and most of his family moved to White Co., AR in 1860 and william died 1864.

Hi Pat,
Thanks for the link to your website--you've done a great job.
I think that I have found a link through Julia Jones b. 1891, daughter of Shadrack Jones and wife of John Little Overstreet. I'd love to hear from anyone who knows more about this Jones line.
Thanks.
Lisa

I'm glad you got on the Roots list and asked all the computer whizzes how to reply. They tell you how to unsub on each message. I don't have any contribution to make but enjoy reding each day about Susan Buckley's cats and Dah Kid.

Interesting. Hadn't gotten to a Tennessee connection but, unfortunately, little time to do any research these days. I'm of the Darlington, SC Revell's though my generation and the preceding were of Davidson Co., NC.

Really loved your page and all your info. We are also cousins of Mary, you also of course! Several of us are going back to North Carolina next week to do more research on the indian relation to Minerva. We think she was Lumbee Indian and are going to trace that. Any suggestions? Any things or places you would like them to look up?

You have done a great job on your webpages! I really like the way you have documented source for much of the data. It makes it so much easier for others to confirm connections. I really need to incorporate more of that into my own site.
Keep up the good work.
