I don't have much information on my family tree in Ireland, however the general concensus in the family is that our family came to the states sometime around the Great Potato Famine. We do know that there is still family with a fairly direct connection in Ireland, however we are having a hard time tracing everyone back. If there is anyone out there that might have an idea how I might trace this back, or have information on this end of the tree PLEASE email me and let me know, words could not explain how greatful I would be. Am searching for husband's ancestors. Seems to be a major mystery. His father (Delbert Eugene Manning) gave several stories during his lifetime, among them: he was born in Alaska and had a twin brother; listed his birthplace on eldest daughter's birth certificate as California; listed his birthplace on the 1930 U.S. Census as 'Canada'. He said his father's name was John Russell Manning. I have had no luck so far in my internet search. If you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate them.

Hi, my name is Brendan Cunningham, currently living in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. I was born in Glasgow, Scotland and lived in Cambuslang, outside of Glasgow. I am 50 years old
My father now deceased, was Thomas Cunningham of Blantyre, Scotland, born 1913. His father was John James Cunningham of Harolds Cross, just outside of Dublin. I have two older brothers, Patrick and Thomas. As far as I know, my grandfathers side of the family was from the Dublin area. I remeber as a child going on vacation to my fathers aunts who lived in Bray, Co. Wicklow. Her name was Katie Fortune of Brennans Parade.
Any thoughts or bells ringing?
Regards.
Brendan Cunningham.

Excellent site John!
My Mother was a Power from Glen and my Father was a Kennedy from Dunmore East. Cunninghams et al feature in family tales
and we have spread to all corners of the world.
It's amazing how we all lose contact as well.
Keep the site going please!

My husband's great-grandfather was Thos. H. McNally, we have no birth or death dates. We know he had a son named Clarence E. McNally (and two other children) who was born in Owen Sound, Canada in 1885. We have always been told Thos. came over from Ireland, but we have no documentation to prove that.

Extremely interesting to read your descendants chart. I was searching for Mannings as my great grandmother was Elizabeth Manning who married Michael Kelly in Newtownforbes on 27th February 1860 and continued to live in Newtownforbes. I am trying to trace where she came from. May be of interest to you details on headstone in Bornacoola Cemetry, Co. Leitrim.

I am in search of my heritage, with minimal information. My father, (also John) passed in 1955, and my mother knew little about my fathers family. We live in Chicago, as did my grandparents. Henry, I believe was my grandfathers name. Otis is a name used alot as a middle name and I believe, came from a first name somewhere. If anyone would know of Mannings in the Chicago area around 1900, I would appreciate any help I could get. Thank you.

Good job John!. I have a lot more mannings, mannions and mangans that I am trying to track down. I wonder if some of them intersect with yours back before your current records. BTW, I find that using a table on the webpage and assigning each Irishman his own cell <g> works wonders to keep them lined up where they belong. No wonder the British like this method! At any rate, when I have mine better organized, I'll contact you. Mean while, what I know is at members.aol.com/efc999/donahue.htm
Thank you for a delightful history.

.....In my long quest to discover my family roots I stumbled upon your page and it intrigued me more than just a wee bit. I live in Canada and all I know of my famiy is that they immigrated here from Ireland during the Potatoe Famine. It is very unusual to me, but I have always felt a closeness to Ireland and me Irish roots. I have even thought about moving across the ocean to Dublin, but that is yet to be seen. Thank you for the wonderful information on my ancesters for me to peruse.

Hi,
Thanks for a great website.
I believe, but am not sure, my relatives are from the Sligo/Roscommon area. I'm looking for John Manning married to Mary Jones. They had at least one son, John Howard Manning born 13 Jun 1841 or 1843. At this point I'm not even sure they are from Sligo. It might have been the port they traveled from. John Howard Manning came to the U.S. about 1848 but I have no record he came with his parents. They might have remained in Ireland. Does this ring any bells with anyone? Thanks, Barry
I have this line from there but can't trace them back to Ireland. It's an impenetrable brick wall for me the last 30 years.
Thanks,
Barry Manning

Very good site, I am interested in the Habron link, my family came from Ireland in the Co Galway around Dunmore, Cloonfad, Tuam, Ballyhaunis area. I returned to the last place I ever met them but the house is closed, and a search of the graveyards was fruitless. There can not be many families of Habrons in Ireland.
Keep going. H P Habron

Greetings Mr. Manning, my name is Stacy and I am a descendent of one John Joseph Keough desparately searching for links in my geneology. I am 20 years old and reside in Houston. I know that my grandfather was born in New Jersey and raised thereabouts and in upstate New York. He passed away in February 1998 in Colorado where my grandmother carries on. I know that he had brothers Ed, Frank, and Joe and one sister named Mary. All are deceased and I am just curious if the named altered over time. Great web site and thank you for publishing your findings. Researching geneology is much less complex due to individuals such as yourself. Beautiful family and luck to you in your quest for history, knowledge and love. Please email if you think any of my information corresponds with yours. Most appreciative and sincere regards, Stacy Swygert(Keough)

My wife Judy is a Dowling (mothers side) from Virginia. Her mother is McGruda Dowling Harris 85 years old. Judy's great grandfather was William A. Dowling who according to her mother, came from Ireland with his brother some where around the 1840's. His brother (name not known) supposedly stayed in New York and William A. went south to North Carolina, Warren County near Virginia border. William had six children (one named William). William A. Dowling was an overseer on a plantation and was Conscripted at the age of 42 into the Confederate Army, Company C, 12th N.C. Infantry Troops in 1863, wounded once, recovered, entered into the Roll of Honor. Wounded, captured and died of wounds in 1864 at Spottsylvania. Judy could tell more about the family.
