Looking for any info on John Samuel Eastman (1835-1914) and wife Martha Ann Thompson (c1842-bef1914) who lived in Essex County. John was the brother to my great-grandfather Cyrus Eastman (c1828-1863) who married Lois Holden (1832-1866) in North Gower, Carleton Co.
*Cyrus and John were sons of Benjamin Eastman (1790-1861) and Margaret McEwen (c1793-bef1861).
Have lots of info and photos to share.
Thanks,

re : Lakeview Cemetary, Essex County, Ontario
Under the surname "Ley", you have listed "William P 1856 - 1974. This is incorrect. The dates should actually be 1956 - 1974. I only know this because William Perry Ley was my uncle. His sister, my aunt, was JoAnne Ley Matier ( 1953 - 1978), same cemetary. Albert was my Grandfather. Ernest and Catherine were my Great-Grandparents. William and Florance were my Great-Great-Grandparents. Thank you. Love this site !!!

I'm too computer ignorant to send these via the net, but would mail them to you if you would give me a mailing address. I congratulate you on your efforts as I'm a believer in sharing genealogy information and as much as I can.

Happy to see this expansive site. I'm a 7th generation descendant of Leonard (Kratz) Scratch. I have tried to find the parents of Sarah (Lafleur) Scratch aka "Grandma Sally." My Aunt, Gloria Cook, processed her UEL membership which includes many of the references you have on your site, including the names, etc., of Sarah and John Scratch's children. Rumor has it that the 1851 Census for Gosfield is missing, per Sue at Essex County Library, back in 2000, and so the trail has become very cold...I went through the Delaurier House Family Study, (on microfiche) for any clues. The only Lafleur found was a "Bosquele Lafleur". No mention of wife or children. So if you want to exchange data, I'd be happy to help. My aging aunt back in Canada is not on the web, but I do correspond the old-fashioned way. Thank you. Kelley

Excellent! Finally a free site where others like myself can aid in bringing people one step closer to discovering their roots in the Kent County area!!!
I purchased a home a few years back, and with this home I received the deeds of all previous owners, dating back as far as 1871. If any of these names sound familiar, I'd be interested in hearing about their history. Thanks! Keep in mind, these are just a few of the names listed on the deeds I have in my possession.

I am researching my husband's family in Windsor, Ontario and I cannot find any bendyks listed. He told me that his grandparents changed their name after they came over from the Urankine in 1916 at the start of the Bolkshiek Revolution. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could point me in the right direction. One grandparent is buried at Drullard Road/Seminole and the other at Ottawa.
