My great grandfather, William FRAWLEY (abt 1837-1879), settled in the Northhampton,Mass, USA area about 1860. He was born in Ireland and immigrated to the Warwick, Quebec area at some point. On about 1930, my father drove his parents from Worcester, Mass to visit an Uncle John FRAWLEY who owned a farm near Warwick. John FRAWLEY was also Irish and married a French Canadian girl. Looking for info.

My G-G-grandmother was Letitia Irwin from Co. Armagh, Ireland. Her parents, James and Martha Irwin, settled the family at Moscow Mountain, apparently near Granby. I have not found Moscow Mountain on old or new maps. Has anyone heard of this location or of any Irwin family. My Letitia married into the Rexfords (3 Brothers) who came from Connecticut to settle near Lake Memphromagog.

This is a very comprehensive site. Even though you may frown upon questions about French ancestry, my father's lineage is most problematic in that his grandfather married into a Protestant English-speaking family. With the vast amount of historical data about the French-connection, it is refreshing to have a site dedicated to the research of settlers who were English-speaking. Thanks.

In addition to the Dawson and Parsons families, I am also researching the following surnames in the Bury, Compton County and nearby area: Buchanan, Coombs, Hunt, MacLeod, Maidmont, McLeod, Stokes and others.
I would be happy to hear from anyone who might have connections to these family names.

Wonderful site! I am the Director of Research for The Genealogical Research Library, and my paternal Elliot line are from Mégantic County. I also am a director of the largest national website (www.grl.com) for finding ancestors in Canada between the years 1608 and 1915...and around the end of this month we will have some information on at least one generation of every family in the Eastern Townships. I'd love to hear from the person in charge of this part of GenWeb...thanks! Noel Elliot

Aa the New Year begins, and since my inbound genelogical information has slowed to a trickle , I was just stopping by to see how things were with your site... I am still pounding the beat trying to dig up more on the Creller name and that elusive Tough family name Have traced many of the Clarenceville lines out to Western Canada. It is amazing how many of the young familes moved to Manitoba, you could almost believe they could have named cities out there Clarenceville 2 Manitoba, or Noyan 2 Manitoba many a time we have tried to trace the Clarenceville familes going south to the USA but we must not forget our history. The Canadain gouvernement was offering FREE land in Manitoba a real good deal for the young families of Christie`s and Caldwell's Manor where land was beginning to become a premuim as the older boys took over the farm from thier fathers....and not much was left for the younger lads ....

As I said I was just passing by to see how things were going
i hope we all have a very productive year in 2005

In addition to the Dawson and Parsons families, I am also researching the following surnames in the Bury, Compton County and nearby area: Buchanan, Coombs, Hunt, MacLeod, Maidmont, McLeod, Stokes and others.
I would be happy to hear from anyone who might have connections to these family names. I have posted this information here before, but want to include our new email address.

Hello Pam,
Found your website today. Have been researching gggf,
John C. Williams and found his name listed as attending a
meeting on 6 March 1812 to establish a church for Caldwell's & Christie's Manor. I am curious about the publication for the period 1815-1825 that you have listed for $13.75. His wife name was Mary and he had three sons,
Nelson, Daniel and Pomeroy. John was born in Vermont but his children were all born in Canada. Sounds like you have a busy schedule. I live in Florida also, but spend my summers upstate NY. It was a pleasure visiting your website. Thank you.

I have just found your website and am excited. Family oral history stated that the ABBOTT ancestors were Torries during the Revolutionary War. And that they flew to Canada. I happened to re-read a letter talking about them when I discovered the name "Memphremagog" in Vermont and started searching and found this web site.

I am a 4th generation Californian in the San Francisco Bay Area. Arthur Paige Abbott married a Sarah Short from Main and arrived in Jackson CA about 1856 to give birth to a daughter--Sarah Martha Abbott.

I have been told that there was a book written about the family but it has been lost due to divorce and deaths. I was also told that the Abbott's are decendants of John Knox, founder of the Presbyterian Church in Scotland.

Who would I talk to to find out if the Abbotts in Stanstead County are related?

Thank you

Hi,
It is always a pleasure to find more resources to help with geneological research. I was born in Brome County and grew up there. In fact I lived in the province of Quebec for nearly 45 years. Unfortunately, due to political narrow-mindedness in the province, I had to move to Ontario to find work. However, my gggrandparents homesteaded in Brome & Shefford counties from the early 1830s, only a few miles from where I was born and grew up. Let's hope that under the new political leadership the province will again welcome people of all linguistic types, especially the English language who used to form such a large and important part of the society.
Congratulations on being able to juggle all of your work, homelife, and hobbies. It isn't easy! And thanks for giving us another road into details of the past!

Thank you for the insights and for publishing the diary.

I was born and raised in Magog and lived there from 1955-1960. My father's name was Chris Savarikas and he owned a restaurant on Main St. called 'Magog Sweets'. If I could see any photos from that time era related to his restaurant, that would be very interesting to me. As well, my family used to live on, I believe, #8 St. Patrick St. , although I'm not 100% certain.

I plan to visit someday soon as I have not been back since the late '60's , early '70's.

You cannot find a more "user-friendly" simplified book to get you started RIGHT AWAY! It's condensed, fun, and to the point! This easy to understand version will teach you how to override the writer's block, and generate dozens of ideas instantly. Great for the student who wishes to better his/her grades. Pam, I always enjoy a visit to your site.
My GGGGrandparents Ebenezer and Susannah Kimball Crosby left Sutton NH and went to Compton, Quebec. This was in the early 1800's (after 1810)
Several of their children also went to the Compton area and settled there.
My GGGrandparents, Ebenezer and Alice Huntington Crosby had 13 children - all born in the Compton area.
My GGrandparents, Alonzo Orlando and Mary Jane Elliott Crosby had 11 children all born in the Hillhurst area. Alonzo was married to Cynthia Cleaveland before he married Mary Jane. There were 2 children from this marriage.
So I seem to have many connections in the area. Many of the relatives are buried in a family plot -"Doak Cemetery" outside of Compton and several in the Moe's River Cemetery.
Enough for now - Pam keep up the great work.

I met a family member online that I would never have met without our computers. Lots of research was done and we are cousins--from the Hauver line in Clarenceville, Quebec. I just found my grandmother and great grandmother and grandfather on this site. She was Florence Ethel Derick born in Clarenceville in 1873. She had sisters and brothers that I never knew about. Her parents were Alonzo Derick and Charlotte Ellis(Concord,Merrimack co.NH.BORN IN 1847.)
My Dad never knew his father, Perley Hauver at all. My dad was 6 months old when his father died. It is amazing to know that I have all this information about his family(Greene family descendents on his father's mother's side)/Thank you dot this site. I hope I can visit here one day. Brenda
