I was surprised to find this information about these old schools, especially the old Wallaceville School. After I bought my house 2 1/2 years ago I found out that my house used to be the Wallaceville School. It burned down around 1934 and was rebuilt in 1935 on the original foundation. We even still have the old coal chute. I've even talked to a lady that went to school here at the time it burnt down. I never knew these things when we bought the place.

My great grandfather's name was determined thru a DNA project with other Broom/Broome men. William Morgan Broom, born Dec 23 1836 in either SC or GA. Last shown in 1850 GA census for Walker County GA at age 13. No other census records with him named. He had a son in 1870 in Chickamauga GA with wife Mary Rider. Was married around 1877-1878 to Sarah Anne Campbell in Gadsden AL. Would like info or leads as to what and where he was between 1850 and 1878.

Looking for Hawkins information, My grandfather Alexander Stepehens Hawkins was born in 1851 in Rossville, Walker Co., GA. Any help will be appreciated. My grandfather, Green Berry Hester, was born, married, and had 4 children before coming to Texas. He was raised by his grandmother. Found Silence or Selena in census records and in 1870, Green Berry, age 4 was in her household. Since he was born in Nov/1865, that would have been his age. In 1880 census he was still in the same household and was 14. Would love to get confirmation that this person was actually my grandfather.
