The most relevant and best resource was the city directory of St. Joseph, 1887 and 1888. Also the 1880 Federal Census. Bushrod and Sarah were the parents of Sarah who married Alpheus Newman. Alpheus took his family and the Sarah's parents with him to St. Jo's. I think there are other Elmore's who went, but I am still working on it. St. Jo's was the beginning of the Pony Express at the time, and a central place for people migrating further West.

William was my gg-gf. His gravestone was in St. Louis Co. and states he was born in KWC in 1793. He bought land in St. Louis Co. in 1829 and was listed in the 1830-1850 census. I traced him in KWC via personal property tax lists. They yielded that his father was Gideon Terry. William was clearly in KWC from 1815 to 1819 since listed as son of Gideon. I don't know where he was from 1820 to 1829. There was no 1810 census and he doesn't seem to be in the 1820 census; although there were 3 William Terrys that year.
