My daughter has been tracing the descendents of her Dad, James R. Bridges. His Dad was Richard Maurice Bridges, and his Dad was Robert Richard Bridges. We have seeming traced back to Laurence Bridger from 1500's England. Are you of the same Bridges' line?

My family history is as follows:

Jaala (Bode) Spratt

Jaala (Bode) Spratt
Daughter of
James and Mary (Stanford) Bode

Mary is the daughter of Margaret (Gordon) and Wilton Stanford. We are all from Cole County, Jefferson City, MO. My mother has a brother John Stanford and a sister Jo Ann (Stanford) Johnson.

Wilton Stanford is the son of John (also called Jack) Stanford and Beulah Smith. Beulah died the year after my grandfather was born in 1912. My grandfather was raised by Anna and George Smith. Wilton’s father also had another son with his second wife, named Jack (kind of confusing.)

Anna (Bridges) Smith is the daughter of Coleman Lowery and Eliza (Spencer) Bridges. They were married in Morgan County, MO on 1/5/1881. Coleman Lowery Bridges is the son of James and Lucy (Lowery) Bridges.

A great website for the Morgan County history is this one. It shows the entire Bridges family in this line.

I have no information about my paternal heritage other than what my father, Samuel Keown, told me before he died in 1997: His father, Keown, and aunts, Mary and Claude, were born in Georgia and migrated in the early 1900's to Jasper Co., Mississippi, where they were raised by a woman called "Annie". The family was originally from Virginia with a Scottish/Irish (?) lineage. There are relatives who I have never met still residing in the Washington D.C. area. Related surnames include FRAZIER, KEOWN, and WAINWRIGHT. I am currently researching my mother's Mississippi ancestry, which has been much easier, so I would appreciate very much any information and/or genealogical connections regarding this rarely documented branch of the Bridges family. Thanks for providing such an interesting and helpful website. Curtis Bridges

My father was Elbridge Walker Bridges (DOB 1919 W. Alton, MO, DOD 1990 St. Charles MO). My grandfather was Hiram "Hobart" Newton Bridges (DOB 1897 MO, DOD 1961 W. Alton, MO). Per 1930 census, Hiram's fathers place of birth was Virginia. I believe there might be a relationship between a John W. Perkinson of St. Charles Mo. and my family due to deed records and census records. I will begin searching your site for any info on my family. Thanking you in advance for any light you may be able to shed. Thanks for bringing the Bridges together. Debby

I happened across your site and thought you might like to know that the marriage of John Bridges and Mary Ligon took place on May 5, 1772 in Charlotte County, Virginia. I noticed you did not have the month and day posted and hope this helps update your site. If you desire any additional information concerning her lineage, please let me know. The source for this information is the book "The Ligon Family and Connections." My grandmother was Adelaide Blanche Liggan of Richmond, Va. (b.1872; d. 1934).

I am just starting to work on my Bridges line (well, one of them - I have two). This particular line is that of my great great grandmother. Her name was Mary Ann Bridges, born May 21, 1827 in Upson Co., GA. Her parents were James Bridges and Miranda Parnell. Family states that they were fro Marlboro District, SC. I am not sure where they were in AL as I have not had a chance to review census records. Any help in pointing me to the proper counties would be appreciated.

My ancestors were Elizabeth Ligon who married Sherwood Peerson, Purson, Pearson. Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas and Anne Ligon; and sister of Mary Ligon who married John Bridges. I've been working with a group of Pearson researchers who've recently traced our Pearson line back to Elizabeth Ligon and Sherwood Peerson. The link to the Ligon line is appreciated. Gene

Lots of good info, but have not connected so far. D. Anna Bridges, wife of my gggrandfather Calvin Ford Letson is one of my "brick walls" I have photo of her in Georgia in 1930's when she was in her 90's, but no info on her family at all. I assume she is related to one of the Bridges families of Georgia, but have made no connection so far. Your page was a good one for info, but did not show a definite connection. I also relate to Georgia Adairs through my Mom's McWhorter family.
