My German parents, Johannes and Amelia Sauder Klingbeil, and Grandmother, Christina Hermann Sauder Seide, immigrated from Europe in 1907. They were members of this Luthern Church in Priddy from 1907-approx.1919. Grandma Sauder died of the 1917 influenza epidemic and a baby boy died around 1913.....They were cotton farmers, primarily. Their friends from the Church that I recall, were the Schranks, the Lippes, the Meyers, the Schusters, the Nauerts, and the Kunkels, among others......We relocated to Dallas County in 1919. I am now 91. My father, Johannes, lived to be 94 and farmed all of his life. My mother, Amelia, lived to 86. They had 12 children.....If anyone has any information about the Klingbeils, or is related to them, please e-mail us as soon as possible. Thank you, so much. I am trying to find out about my father's surname, which is Tischler. I am looking for a Lutheran Cemetery that Anton Rothermel was buried in after death Aug. 4, 1888 at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio from Malaria fever. HIs death certificate with the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District show he was buried in a Lutheran Cemetery. He was from Winedale, Washington Co.and Bellville, Austin Co. He was on business trip at the time of his death.

Emil Herman Rauhut, Sr. was my Grandfather. His first wife was Eugenia Schuster. At the present time I am researching his life and compiling a book about the family. Emil and his 3 siblings were orphans and came to America. Mr. Schuster of Priddy sponsored Emil and his brother Frederick.
Mr. Schuster met the boat at Galveston and brought the two children to Priddy. Emil Herman became a successful businessman in Comanche owning cotton gins and was the county's largest landowner at the time of his death.

I have been to the Zion Lutheran cemetery many times when I visit the Priddy area, and I admire your dedication to detail regarding the dates, headstones, etc. I also recognize the difficulty in reading some of the dates and names on the stones due to age; therefore your dedication might not be apparent to others, but I recognize what you accomplished and thank you. As I continue the preparation of my family tree, I always think of something I wish I could check out -- your site makes that possible without a long drive across Texas.
