My Burge's arrived in Australia around 1850 from Newmarket, Suffolk in England. We think some of them probably went to North America at earlier times though we are not sure. I am descended from Joseph Burge born around 1800 in St. Mary's Newmarket and his wife Hannah Maisfield. Their son William Burge went to South Australia around 1850 with his wife Martha (nee Jones) who was born on Shrewsbury, Shropshire England.
There are many hundreds of us in this country, most of whom I don't know but it would be interesting to know if we could extend our family ties to Texas even though Texas is only a small state by Australian standards. I do have a small 150 acre farm where I grow Angus cattle and olives.

My great grand mother was Lenora Baker who married Robert T. Mock (My grate grand father). It’s nice to learn about distant relatives as there is not much info on Mock side of the family.
