Tell us about yourself Genealogist since 1980
Your place of residence Columbus, Ohio
Comments:
Louisa is my 6th Great Grandmother. My notes show she was born in Sinsheim, Palatinate, Germany and settled in Pennsylvania. She lived in York county and died in Adams County there. She married in York County, PA to Hans George Sponseller. As far as I know so far they had five children. I do not know if my family fits in with yours. However some of Louisa's descendants did end up in Seneca County, Ohio.

Audrey, Nice job. The same picture of Henry and Catherine Tecklenburg on the Teck. home page hangs in our hallway. Henry did live with my grandfather John in Troy when my mother, Dorothy, was 10 years old. Also, the census has the street they lived on as Courts St. This is a census typo. The correct name of the street is Counts. I will try to get some more info to you on the Tecklenburg side.

Your LEHMANN ancestors Thomas/Christoph Lehmann (brothers)
Tell us about yourself Been research Lehmann family history for 15 years
Your place of residence Gahanna, OH (Columbus)
Comments:
My branch of the Lehmann family arrived in Wood County, OH around the 1870's from Altlusheim, Baden, Germany (South eastern corner of Germany). Altlusheim is across the Rhine River from Speyer.
My great grandfather Thomas and family settled in Webster Twp., Wood County, OH. They established a family farm raising crops and children. Thomas' brother settled in Bowling Green, Wood Co., OH. He started a meat packing business which lasted several generations.
Searching for a connection between the Lehmann's families of Wood Co. At the same there was another large Lehmann family close by in Rising Sun, OH and into Wood Co. My family is Lutheran and they are Catholic. I believe there may be a link between the two. I don't think it was dumb luck the settleed in the same area. I do know that Christoph stayed in Seneca Co. when he first arrived from Gremany. I have know idea who he lived with. Good chance it may have been some Lehmann's that came over earlier.
In my research I have found a number of families from the Baden area of Germany especially from Altlusheim coming to NW Ohio. I find genealogy to always to be interesting. Let me know what your thought are about the Lehmann connection. Dick Lehmann

Your LEHMANN ancestors Julius Lehmann from Dresden and Leipsig in April of 1851, age c. 21 to Ohio
Your place of residence Evanston, Illinois
Comments:
Julius Lehmann, a medical student, came by himself from Dresden to Ohio in April 1851. Shortly thereafter he married Elsie or Elizabeth KRAUSE in Ohio. He practiced medicine in Bellevue (sp?) Ohio for a year or 2, and then they moved to Terre Haute IN. After about a year in Indiana they moved to Bloomington IL where they lived the rest of their lives. I am looking for any information about the KRAUSE and LEHMANN connections, particularly their marriage, in northern Ohio, about 1850-1855.

In 1885, my great grandfather, August Herke, emigrated with his parents and sister Caroline, her husband Ernst Lehmann (son of Samuel and Luisa Lehmann) and their children Ernst, Paul, and Carl from the Vogelsang / Fuerstenberg / Rampitz area of Brandenburg / Germany. They moved to LaSalle county Illinois. Caroline gave birth to their fourth child, Anna, in November 1886 and died 20 days later of typhoid fever. Anna was raised by Justice and Bertha Bruck of Ottawa, Illinois. Ernst married Mary Kai in 1890. They had at least one daughter, Rosemary. I'm interested in hearing from anyone connected to this line of Lehmanns.

Your LEHMANN ancestors (known paternal ancestors from present to past, reference:our family tree drawn up by my grandfather) Peter, Ernst, Gottlieb, Go
Tell us about yourself Born near Johannesburg, South Africa, 1985. My parents immigrated to South Africa before I was born.
Your place of residence South Africa
Comments:
Hi, my name's Daniel Markus Lehmann. I was born in 1985 and am the only son out of two children of a Swiss couple who immigrated to South Africa separately and married here. I was just looking on the internet for some information about my distant ancestors. I have no idea if, or how our family histories tie up, but it would be very interesting to find out. I have a rather extensive direct family tree drawn up by my grandfather, Ernst Lehmann, years ago, before his death in 1997. This family tree dates as far back as 1789, when Christian Lehmann of Langnau, Switzerland was born. According to the family tree, he married Elisabeth Zaugg (b.1792), who was from a place called Eggiwil. Their son was Johannes Lehmann, b. 1817. It would be really intriguing to discover where my family originates, and how it ties up with the apparrently large number of Lehmann's around the world. If you do know anything about my branch of the family, I would really appreciate some info.

Your place of residence Portage, Kalamazoo Co., MI
Comments:
SAMPLE from Audrey:

I was born in Piqua, OH, reared there and in Decatur, IL & Anderson, IN where I met Dave at 16 years of age. We married when he was a senior in Pharmacy School at Purdue, and began our life together. We moved to Kalamazoo, then Portage, MI where we have lived for over 35 years. After 4 children and at age 32 I went to college and became a school teacher. My hobby has been family history and genealogy for many years. I enjoy flower gardening also, and of course, delight in the life adventures of our children and grandchildren.

Learning new tricks of webpage writing at 60 years of age has been a challenge, soooo old dogs can learn new tricks! Hope you enjoy learning about our ancestry and delight in the stories and pictures. Memories are made of this! Please share some of yours.
