But Elizabeth Tucker is shown on a 1850 Census as being born in VA in 1782 now living with Arietta and Edden Terry. So I know that Arietta's maiden name was Tucker.

I surfed into your web site by searching Google for the name of my aunt (Gladys Elizabeth Tucker Barker). It is a tremondous collection you have.

I am the son of Donald Alexander Tucker (son of Stephen Rowan Tucker) and Betty Irene Collins. I am 55 years old. My parents are both still alive and live in Idaho. Dad is 89 and Mom is 82. I live in Utah, about 35 miles north of Salt Lake City.

I may have a few things I can contribute - at least a few dates and places that are not on your web site. I also have a few photos, but I need to scan them: John Wm. Tucker (same one you have), his 1st wife Martha Ann Sisk, Ebenezer Wilson Tucker, Martha Allen Miller, and most of the children of Ebenezer.

When I get time do do some scanning I will send you a few JPEGs.

I also sent this message to impapatuck@hotmail.com which was the "mail-to" destination in the "e-mail webmaster" link on your home page. I figured you would see it one way or the other.

I am also a first cousin of Ann Tracey, whose husband previously signed your guestbook.

John Tucker jan tucker 1368
They were from breda, netherlands
Born about 1330
Hello there,

The name Tucker is originally a continental name. My name is Tukker. My family-line goes straight back tot 1440, when Jan Tucker (the earliest Tucker we know of in my family) was born. An earlier Tucker is John Tucker from Breda. He sells a house in Breda in 1368. This is now part of the Netherlands, but in that time part of Flanders. From 1440 to 1720 the Dutch Tuckerslived in Hagestein and Zijderveld, only 30 kilometers north of Breda, and from then on they spread over the western part of the country, although my family stayed in the neighbourhood al those centuries. From that time on, they started to spell the name with double 'k'. The most frequent names in the family-line are: Jan (John), Willem (William) and from 1720 until now also Cornelis (my name).
In the time of William the Conquerer John Tucker -as the story goes- would have gone to England with him 6000 soldiers. The greater part of these soldiers were Flemish (Flanders in that time was the strongest and richest part of Western-Europe, mainly because of trade with Italy and lace-work), a smaller part was Nordic, and an even smaller part was French. So the chance that there is a connection is rather big. But not (yet) proven.
See forward to your reaction.

C. Tukker

John Tucker George Pullen, Jr.
They were from Shenandoah Co., Virginia
Born about 1759
Thank you for a beautiful website! You've obviously put a lot of thought and work into it.

I wonder how certain you are about the fact that Elisha Pullen was the son of Hiram Pullen and Mary Frymire? The two Hirams I've found in the area at that time were both too young (ages 24 and 27) to have a marrying age son in 1831. May I suggest that perhaps Elisha was the son of my ggg-grandfather George Pullen, Jr. (my earliest Breckinridge Co. ancestor). This Elisha was born about 1804 in Kentucky so he would have been 27 in 1831. Furthermore, he is listed in the 1840 census with a wife age 20-30, 2 sons age 5-10 and 2 daughters under age 5 which would fit with an 1831 marriage. He (Elisha) seems to be missing in the 1850 census which would be appropriate if he died between 1846 and 1848. The Pullen family lived in the Hudson area and in 1828 Elisha was deeded land on Calamese Creek by both his father George and his brother Abraham (my gg-grandfather). TidBit: When Martha married Richard Quiggins, they were neighbors of another of my George Pullen's sons, Hezekiah, and three of Hezekiah's sons--Elisha, Warren, and David.

Please let me know if you think this Elisha, son of George Pullen, Jr., might be the one. I'll look forward to hearing from you.

Earlier Tucker in the Netherland (same village) are know, but direct family relation is unclear. Two earlier Tucker's I know of in the Netherlands: Jan Tucker, who sold a house in the city of Breda (Barony of Brabant, now Netherlands) in 1368, and a man called Tucker, who had a hidden church in a shed in the city of Vianen, Netherland in the 12th century.
Ofcourse there is the story of John Tucker who went to England in 1066, with William the Conquerer from Normandy(Northern-France), but where he came from...

John Tucker James Tucker and Becky Lerwill Tucker
They were from Barnstaple, Devon, England
Born about 1810
My branch of the Tucker line originated in Barnstaple, Devon, England, and when they emigrated to the USA in 1886, my great-grandfather was a lad of 18. They worked on the East Coast for the railway (got as far south as Alabama). They also laid streets in Milwaukee, and eventually answered a call to come north to Wisconsin, to work putting in the Soo Line Railroad in Central Wisconsin. My great-grandfather was born in 1868 and died in 1939. He was for many years a sheep and cattle farmer in Wisconsin. His mother's name was Jane Pugsley; she was born in England in about 1834; his father's name was George Tucker, and was born in England on January 7, 1843. The Pugsleys, I am told, emigrated to Australia. Other names connected with our branch of the Tucker line include Yeo and Lerwill. I would love to hear news from anyone who knows information about this branch of the Tuckers. This is a great website!

They were from Breckinridge Co
Born about 1815
I am delighted to find this site. I am tracing the Valentine Hay line. John M who married Susan J. Tucker is probably his son--listed on 1850 census and also possessing a military record. Pension application is in another state and has name Drane on it. How did you get the Coyles info. I want a list of burials there--have been told Valentine is there but can't prove it. What happened to John M Hay? When did he die? Valentine had a daughter named Lucy Hay. Or she could be Jonathan Hay's daughter. Jonathan had a Lucy Hay too. One was Lucy A and the other Lucy E. She may be the one married to Sanford Tucker. Henry Alexander Hay was the son of Jonathan Hay. Is it possible he married both Elizabeth and Sarah Pullen? I just received a document today on the Jonathan line that shows Sarah as the wife of Henry Alexander Hay. Christiann Harned married Jonathan Hay after Quiggins and had 4 more children.

John Tucker Charles Sherwood Tucker & Allie Virginia (Montgomery Tucker
They were from Southwest Missouri
Born about 1860s Allie V. was born September 2, 1869
Charles and two brothers migrated to southwetern Idaho (Caldwell) around 1890-1895, and homesteaded farm land to the west of town. Charles returned to Missouri about 1902 and married Allie Virginia Montgomery in 1902, thereafter returning to Caldwell, Idaho. They had one son, Ree Montgomery Tucker, born April 30, 1905. R. M. Tucker was my father. R. M. Tucker married Velma May Codding Jones on October 5, 1928. I was born September 8, 1929 in Seattle, Washington.
My grandparents engaged in farming on a 160 acre tract for a time into the early 1930s, when Charles S. Tucker's health began to fail and experiencing the early part of "The Great Depression", my father reluctantly agreed to return to Caldwell and take responsibility for the farm. (R. M. Tucker was a machinist by trade and did not enjoy farming, at all.) For some while in the time between 1902 and 1930, Charles and Allie operated a retail store in the town of Caldwell. (I am uncertain as to the type of store, but I have a vage memory that it was a dry goods establishment.) Charles, my grandfather, died in 1933(?) when I was about four years of age. Allie V. Tucker remained in Caldwell until her death in late July, 1961 at the age of 91. Ree Montgomery Tucker died near Seattle in November 1978, at the age of 73. Velma Tucker died in October 1994.

They were from Breckenridge Co. KY
Born about John, 1759 & Martha Bunton, 1770
I have a "book" put together by my father's niece quite awhile ago, before computers were in wide use. She traveled all over to find records at old court houses etc. I am going to attempt to put her findings in my computer and send it to people like you. Her findings said that John and Martha had 21 children. She only found 16 names, Jacob, William, George, James, Wiley, John, Pleasant, Allen, Thompson, Rial, Levianna, Sarah, Joseph, Martha, Robert and Parthenia. My lineage is from Robert, then George Allen, then Ulyses S. Grant, then (my father) Claudius J. Tucker. If you have particular questions I will be glad to give you what I have.

This is a beautiful site. I am still looking for the parents of Bannister - so if anyone ever finds out who they were, please let me know.
