Many names were familar, but putting a face to some of those names was difficult. Never the less, a step back in time when memories come flooding in, and you can relive the past for a while.

I found this website a few years ago by typing my grandfather's name, "Orlu D. Avery" into a "Google" search.
I also found at that time that my grandfather was instrumental in founding the high school in Fleischmanns. While I was aware that he and his family lived in Fleischmanns, I was not aware that he was involved in starting a high school there. My mother Leah Viola Avery was born in Fleischmanns in 1913 or 1914. I recently visited Fleischmanns but could not find anyone who had any knowledge of my grandfather or his family. I would very be interested in any information, pictures, location of their home, etc. and, of course would be happy to fill in your high school history with any information that I can provide about my grandfather. Please help if you can.

"THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES". My brother and I spent the happiest years of our lives in Fleischmanns. As I told you when we spoke, to us it is "NEVER NEVER LAND" and when we reminis everything has stayed the same and none of us have grown up.
I don't know if I can make the next renunion but would love to hear from anyone that remembers me. Thanks for becoming the school Historian. Keep up the good work.

I attended Fleischmanns High for 7th and 8th grade and have never fogotten what a special place it was. I have warm memories of that time, particularly of our 8th grade basketball team that only lost two games that year.
My brother, Glenn, who also attended the school, passed away in June of 2002. Perhaps he could be added to the Memorial list.

My mother, Ethel Solomon Abrams (deceased) graduated from FHS as did her brothers, Moie and David. My first cousin Harry Solomon did as well (1964) and his mother taught there and my grandfather, Harry, was President of the Board. I, myself, attended briefly in kindergarten before moving to Cornwall, NY. This website is wonderful and has brought back many fond memories of my family, childhood - much of which was spent in Fleischmanns, and the many people I knew when I was younger. Found out about this link through John Todd and a connection to Classmates.com. My family lived next door to Dr. Abe Rottkov, across from the park. Drove through town in 1994, and noticed that the place had not changed that much. The couple of years that we lived there were some of the best of my childhood.
