Name: Jeff Davis <jeff@jeffreycdavis.us> Date: 2002-10-05 Surname(s) in Co Tyrone Kincaid / Kinkead / Calhoun Location(s) Tyrone Date(s) Abt 1760 Comments:
Robert Kinkead was born in County Tyrone, of parents in common circumstances. He married a Miss Calhoun, by whom he had five children: Joseph, John, David, Charlotte and Catherine, all of whom were born in County Tyrone. Joseph died in Ireland without a family. John died in Egg Harbor, NJ, America leaving a wife and two boys in Ireland.
David learned the wheel-right trade in Ireland, serving an apprenticeship of seven years, after which he enlisted on board a "man of war" during the strife between the american colonies and their mother country, with the intention of deserting the ship on arriving in a colonial port, but the ship never touched American shores, but returned to Belfast where he was discharged from the Brittish service. He then sailed from Belfast to America in the first ship that sailed after the conclusion of peace. The ship was called the Lazy Mary and landed in Philadelphia in 1783. David was sold for his passage to Edward Duvall, of Burlington County New Jersy for three years, during which he married a Miss Mary Land , who was born on sea of Welsh parents. To them were born four sons: Stacy, John l., Joseph and Robert.

Am seeking information re Humphrey White, leather tanner/ leather seller of NewtownStewart and Margaret Caldwell his wife. On this Co. Tyrone site I have discovered him listed in Tithe Applotment for Ardstraw 1834 townland of Newtownstewart, also Slaters Directory for Newtownstewart 1846 as leather seller.
Their daughter Margaret Serena White age 20 and listed as dressmaker sailed from London 18th March 1853 aboard ship "Crasmus" arriving Port Melbourne Victoria Australia 5th July 1853.
Margaret Serena White married in Bendigo Victoria Australia the following year in 1854 to Thomas Hughes. She had two boys who died same year they were born and a little girl Jane Hughes who was 15 months when Margaret Serena Hughes died 5th April 1858. Margaret Serena is buried with her twobaby boys in Kangaroo Flat Cemetery on outskirts of Bendigo.
I am interested to discover any information re this family in Newtownstewart.
Is there more information given in Slaters' Directories and Tithe Applotment books than is listed on this site, which is just the names?. If so can anyone looke them up for me and supply details please.?
Or, is there anyone connected to this family.
All offers of help appreciated.

Lucy CROWE Born: 17 Mar 1871 in Shanmullagh, Dromore, Co. Tyrone
The family then moved to Clones, Co Monaghan
Robert Crowe was the occupant of a house and office of Rev. Hon. L. St. George in Shanmullagh Glebe that was next to the Church and grave-yard. There was also a James Crowe in Dromore who occupied property of Rev. Hon. L. St. George. Could this be his father?

Name: Shannon Courtney <yutie56@hotmail.com> Date: 2002-07-12 Surname(s) in Co Tyrone MCQUAID/ MCQUADE, O'NEILL, MCGUIRE Date(s) 1800-1852 Comments:
I am looking for records for William MCQUAID & Mary O'NEILL and their children born in Ireland. I am also looking for records of the parents of Bishop Bernard John MCQUAID (b: ~1823 New York City, New York, USA) - Bernard John MCQUAID (b: ~1800) and Mary MCGUIRE (MACGUIRE)(b: ~1796). I am told they were from Tyrone- around Kilskeery, Donaghmore, Dromore, or Trillick. I searched some of the church records but their names were not found. I suspect that William MCQUAID and Bernard John MCQUAID are brothers, but have not been able to confirm this yet.
The children of William MCQUAID & Mary O'Neill include:
1. John MCQUAID/MCQUADE- b:~1837
2. Catherine MCQUAID/MCQUADE b:~1838
3. Joseph MCQUAID/MCQUADE b:~1840
4. Margaret MCQUAID/MCQUADE b: ~1841
5. Elizabeth MCQUAID/ MCQUADE b: 1846
6. William MCQUAID/ MCQUADE b: ~ March 17, 1852(Family notes show he was born in Ireland- but he may have been born in Canada- not yet confirmed)
There may have been other children born to this couple but these are the ones that immigrated with the family about 1850-1854.

Looking for assistance in locating the family of John GIVEN and Lydia GIVEN. John was born about 1840, Lydia about 1838. They both emmigrated to the United States about 1851. Lydia lists her birthplace as county Tyrone when she was married.
I am under the assumption that they are siblings. The connection between the two is based on John's son George Marshall GIVEN who was living with Lydia (GIVEN) Dickson in the 1900 Pennsylvania census and listed as her nephew.
I have been unable to locate their immigration records, and their first records in the states are without other family members (John is married in the 1860 census, Lydia is a servant in a separate household).
