Rueben Harrelson was the son of Elkanah Harrelson and was born in NC in 1773. Rueben's son, Hugh Henry Harrelson/Haralson was born in NC in 1793. Hugh Henry's som, George W. Haralson was born in Ga in 1826. The family settled in Elbert and Newton Co. GA, and eventually migrated to Madison Co. GA.

I need to prove the father /son connection between Rueben and Hugh Henry, and Hugh Henry and George W. Many sites have the same dates, but I haven't found any with documentation as of yet. I've searched for wills, and land documents but again, nothing has turned up.

The Harrelson/Haralson family were farmers as were most people during the time I'm searching.

I would appreceiate corresponding with anyone who has knowledge of this family. I'm really stumped right now and need help. I'm not from GA and live too far to go there to research so I have to rely on the Internet and kind "genie angels"
Thanks

Researchng the Farmer family of early Georgia. Would love contact with anyone descended from this family, researching someone related to this family, or any help offered.

They were in Jackson County as early as 1809. In Gwinnett County by 1820, Henry County by 1827, and in Newton County. Possibly even Rockdale County, GA.

Thomas "James" Farmer, Sr. seems to be the oldest of these Farmer's. He was born circa 1760, possibly in North Carolina. He will be known as James Farmer in all but one of his Georgia records. It's an 1832 Newton County, GA land deed that gives his full name.

Looking forward to sharing researcher. Thanks!

Benjamin Baldwin who died in 1815 and his wife Sarah who died in June 1801. Sarah may have been either Sarah Jurdine or Sarah Garden. Their son James G. Baldwin married Damaris Claudia Cummins (daughter of the Rev. Francis Cummins). James died in 1819. James and Damaris had two sons: Francis G. Baldwin and Benjamin Baldwin. Francis was my gggrandfather. He married Julia Smith Clayton (daughter of Judge Augustine Smith Clayton) in Athens 19 November 1841. They moved to Columbus, Mississippi with Damaris. Francis and Julia had a son James G. Baldwin who served in the Confederate Navy (he resigned from Annapolis) and Army. He moved to Texas in 1867.

Hi From Chicago

Just recently joined your genealogy society. I am looking for a needle in a haystack and need help. The surname is SMITH of all things. My ancestor is one Francis B. (Marion) Smith born ca. 1792 Georgia. He married Eliza Hill and is recorded in Walton co in 1819 Tax List. By 1824 he is now recording property in DeKalb Co. By 1833 he and his family have migrated to Benton Co, AL. My problem is his lineage. I cannot find who Francis' parents were. I researched the 1820 census of Walton and found 18 Smith's. There were about 8 Smith's who could have been Francis' parents (all over the age of 45). I believe Francis may have had brothers named James, William and Martin Van Buren (but do not have any conclusive evidence on this). The Smith family may have migrated down from Maryland prior to 1792. Do not know if Francis had any sisters.

Any help on this family, even if just a nibble, would be greatly appreciated.

Bonnie

I found two familiar names of family members. But I did not locate a good resource for Madison County GA. Unless my family "Chappell" was not original to Madison County and migrated there from somewhere else? My grand father was Will Chappell and he Married Sara(h)who was said to have been native american. Since Sara(h) is a christian name it may have been some type of missionary in that area that ministered to slaves and natives.

Hello from Florida:
I'm a Georgia native stuck down here in Florida trying to research my Walton Co. relatives. My paternal line includes John Truman Smith, William Parks Smith, Truman Kellog Smith, Job Smith (first ordinary of Walton Co.) and David Smith (who settled Walton Co from South Carolina about 1805-09). My paternal grandmother is Emma Talulah Darby, her parents were John F. Darby and Emilyn Colon Gillespie, and her paternal grandparents were James Wigmore Darby and Lucinda Pearce Hamilton. I am interested in anything some of your members may know about any of these people and associated descendents. I have recently found all of the Smith graves at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church and at a family cemetary on the property of Herman Willis Smith. Any other kinfolk out there, I'm a lost chicken looking for the flock. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely
Ronald Truman Smith

Sarah had 1 brother named Abner. I have the Hicks/Nixon line to present day. Belive Harvy left his family and is the same Harvey Hicks who married Margaret McDonald in Texas and raised a family there as he is not with Sarah in Cobb Co., GA in 1840 with her first three boys, and then in 1850 Randolph Co., AL with all four of her boys - Washington Richey, James William (my ggrandfather), Isaiah (who died and is listed in the 1860 Mortality Schedule Randolph Co., AL) and William Abner. Need additional information on William Abner also. It is believed that Harvey's parents are Josiah and Elizabeth of Franklin Co., Ga and their other children are James, Martha, and at least 7-8 more are unnammed from the will of Josiah Hix. Documents shows land dealings between Harvey in Texas and different people back in GA. Any help is appreciated as this is my direct line and I have come at a standstill at this brick wall. My Ancestory on my mothers side, CASH, BUFFINGTON, HOOPER, IVIE, RUCKER, RITCH, all came into Wilkes and all the other counties of the EGGS. I am very interested in corresponding with any of these lines. They all came in in the late 1700s.
My Father's line FINCHER, AKENS, MORRISS/MORRIS, BOHANNON/BOHANNAN, all came into Henry/Newton/Jasper co Ga. At one time William B Morriss who married Susanna Williams, daughter of Robert Williams was in Madison Co Ga. William B Morriss's son Isham Morriss was later in Newton Co Ga married to Sarah Bohannon, daughter of BB (Beverly Braxton) Bohannon and Rachel Bohannon. I have little data on this line.

I think you are doing a wonderful job. My ggf mysteriously appeared in Elbert Co, GA about 1830. Rumor had it that his parents were killed in a buggy wreck. I have no clue who he was or where he came from: Lewis Walker is his name.

Waters, Pleasant Webb whose wife was Anna Goss, and aslo Claiborne Webb whose wife was Margaret Deadwyler, These are three of John Webb's sons, would like to know more about him and any of the families and stories associated with these gentelmen. Just found this site. Very excited about it. Too bad I missed the July meeting as I am trying to find the person who might be the source of the " Indian blood" in our family. Not sure if Creek or Cherokee...just a family story.
Seeking the parents of Littleton Barber who married Mary Johnson in Columbia County in 1841...also seeking her parents. Where can I find marriage bond for these? I found marriage license. He moved to Washington, Ga. a few years later and remarried a Mary Massengale Patman, dau. of a Methodist minister, David W. Patman. The first Mary must have died or been divorced. Having trouble finding divorce records for Ga. during this period.
