Am looking for additional family history information on the Stidham family. My mother was Edna Mae Stidham who married and divorced Preston Odell Stidham, my grandmother was Ida Mae Stidham married William Oney, and my great grand father was Cornelius Martin Stidham of Georgia and his parents, names unknown at present, was born in Georgia. Cornelius married Louisa Catherine Wilcoxin of Texas. Our Stidham family went from Georgia to Texas.

& Earl Jr.
The children were residents of an orphanage in Ohio sometime during the latter 1920's & early 1930's.
There were no offspring from the four sons.
Father, Ray died in 1932 in Ohio. Have been unable to connect the Stidham family further than Ray the father.

I am the daughter of Edgar Collins the youngest brother of Beecher Collins who married Octavia Stidham. The granddaughter of Dora and Roscoe Collins. I would love to have any information that I can get since finding my family tree information is about impossible. I also have some pictures of Octavia and Beecher. Beecher was killed in the coal mine that is behind the family house in Krypton which I own and their family property is in Devils Skull also in Krypton. Most of his children still remain in the area.

Daniel was related to another Elijah Maness. Check the Maness DNA project, specifically Group 2; Daniel Yancy Maness.

I was given a family history by my Great-grandmother 4 months before she died. Her name was Veda Olivette Steadham she was married to Barney Coy Brogdon. Veda's Great-grandfather was John Edward Steadham of Baldwin Co, AL. His Great-grandfather was Benjamin Stidham III. The further we go back we finally end with Luloff (Lyloff)Stiddem born in the Netherlands in 1580. In the book "The Descendants of Timothy Stidham, Vol. 1" by Jack Stidham, my Great-grandmother's Grandfather family starts on page 13-162. I know this is rather lengthly but I would like to find out even more about my family.

I've recently found out that my mother had a child before I was born ( October 19, 1951). Mary Lucille Stidham, Married Earl Thoma Moore on April 7, 1947, the baby girl was born October 23, 1946. FYI, I have been checking out GEDcoms on the rootsweb and noticed a descrepancy. Martha Radis Stidham and William Harold Raleigh only had four children. Willima Kyle Raleigh, Mary Sue Raleigh (Kiser), Sherlon Raleigh (1, Ammon, 2nd Worthington) and Dr. Harold Ray Raleigh. Each of these produced children as well and in some cases grandchildren. I have all that data with teh except of a few wifes names.

Many records show Judith died @ " Coopers Creek" Scott Co, VA. She lived & died @ "Copper Creek", Scott Co, VA near Bellamy, VA.
Her daughter Elizabeth (abt 1791- >1860) who married Patrick Buckner may have had her eldest daughter Sarah "Sally" (my 2g grandmother) out of wedlock. All documents I've found so far, including her marriage papers to Thos. Woolsey Wiliams show her using her mother's maiden name.
I've got a perfect mtDNA match with another Judith descendant as well as 6 perfect matches with others having surnames other than Stidham. I plan to follow up with these matches in hopes of finding spouses of Samuel/Adam/ William or any clues as to who her dad was. This DNA is a real nice search tool.

I just found an entry in my grandmother's grandmother's 1875 diary that Peter Stidham a "sort of cousin" came for a visit and stayed for dinner! I do not know how the Stidham family is related to my family. I do know that the writer of the diary, AV Ferguson's mother was Nancy Lane who married John Davis. I have their marriage record and also the copy of Richard Lane's will which mentions his daughters. I mentions his daughter Nancy.

Maben is divided by Oktibbeha and Webster County lines, and in the Webster County part, there have always been Stidham Families. Most of the Stidham Families have always loved all day gospel singings, and were really great singers too. I was talking with Barry Stidham this morning, and he told about going to Sweden to the place the Stidham Family came from, and he says there is a statue in the town square of the founder of the town, who was a Stidham ancestor.

My Uncle Henry Beau Burkhart (5/12/1920-6/1982)married a Cora Stidham on October 1, 1938 in Lee County, Virginia.
Henry was from the Rocky Station area of St. Charles, Virginia, in Lee County. He died in Indianapolis, Indiana. They had 2 sons, Joel and Irvin. Henry and Cora divorced and Henry married 2 more times and had at least 5 more children.

Hello, Just wanted to be acknowledged regarding my exsistance. My father (Robert L. Stidoms) was born in 1911 in Rome,GA. he passed on October 18, 1985 His brothers were John and Frank Stidoms of Columbus, Ohio they too have passed. My cousin John Stidoms Jr. passed away a few years ago, and I know he has a son named Steven Stidoms,however, I don't know him. HENRY STIDHAM, son of James Monroe Stidham & Pharbia Pherbia Collier, married Polly Moore Clay (Begley/Bagley) in Seattle. They are on the 1910 census there, stating they have been married 4 years, and with sons, Talmadge, age 3, and Leroy, less than a year old. In 1920, they are apparently divorced, but have had a child, Ruth, and the birth records show a son of Henry Stidham and Dolly "Blay" on 6/14/1919, although census in 1920 and in 1930 show Dollie with a daughter of that age range. However, Dollie has now married Alonzo Parks, and Henry isn't to be found in either census. However, Henry died 31 Dec 1950 in Washington although hid death record doesn't list a city or county.
Sure would appreciate help on this family, since the children haven't been found in any later records, with one exception. Marion Anderson was the informant on Alonzo Parks' death certificate in 1951. Presumably the Marion Parks or Stidham found on the 1920 & 1930 census.

I read a blurb in the paper that said to google myself so I googled Rinda Stidham and discovered your website. I was not very close to my dad's side of the family- we lived in Kentucky until I was 17 and then moved to Pennsylvania. My mother's family is from Germany and New York. I always thought that Stidham was English. I was very surprised and interested to find that it is Swedish.
It would be interesting to hear more about this side of the family. I now live in Catonsville, Md, 7 miles from Inner Harbor in Baltimore.

My mother was Osa Mae Sturgill...she had 8 sisters, only two of the girls remain. Mother did not talk about the 'old times' too much, but she remembered Calvin Sturgill, her grandfather,living with them and dying at there little home in the mountains of Kentucky (Benham). He was taken back to Virginia for burial on top of a mountainside. According to an oral history my sister and I took from our mother's sister, Monette, Calvin passed away at their home in Benham. She remembered her grandfather, Calvin, being big and husky and wore a mustache, and had thick grey hair. She said her grandmother, Abby Stidham Sturgill, was a little short woman with red hair. She died of heart trouble. When her grandfather, Calvin died, she went to the funeral in VA.. The men carried Calvin's casket from the bottomland up the steep mountain. Abby is buried next to him. The men sang the old fashioned songs as they carried Calvin Sturgill's body up the hill and at the top, they continued to sing...and one of his favorites was "Give ME The Roses While I Live."
