Jacob born Tennessee,married Mary Taylor, 1850 census shows they were in Chattooga, Georgia,children, D.C. male born 1835 in Tennessee. M. E. Beck, female born ca 1841 in Alabama. No other records found. Mary died Feb. 12, 1866 in flu epidemic, which supposedly wiped out all children, Jacob, and M. E. who had married a Morton at this time.
Only known survivor is M. E. 's daughter, Nancy Catherine Morton who was raised by a sister of M.E. Does anyone know where I can look for more information. Am supposing M. E. and her husband probably married in Chattooga.

John C. Pool is listed in Summerville, Chattooga County, in the 1880 census. Apparently this was my great-grandfather since several children living at home in 1880 bear names of his sons.
John Pool married twice and was the father of more than a dozen sons: William, Thomas, Samuel, Colbert, Elley, and Joseph Byron Everett Pool (my grandfather) from his first marriage. (wife's name unknown) John C. Pool then married Martha Ann Curtis Turner and they became parents of Jim, Riley, Spencer, Charlie, Walter, Archie, George, and Robert David.
Joseph Pool moved to Floyd County, Texas, c. 1900 and died in 1942.

Pleasant EATON married Caroline EATON between 1847-1863 in Lumpkin Co. GA. They are listed on the Winston Co. AL 1870
census with four children: Nathan 17, James 12, Miney 8, and Mary 6. In 1880, they were in Wayne Co. TN with James Polk 16, and Minnie C. 13. Minnie Caroline was my G-Grandmother.
The census lists them as being born in GA, with all of the children born in AL.
The 1990 Wayne Co. census states that Caroline gave birth to 9 children, but the four listed in 1870 are all that I know of.
I have not been able to find out anything else about them. Please help me if you can.

One wonders whether there was a coal mine about but the original Coal mountain was the hill that 369 cuts thru as it crosses the Richard Neville Brige over 6 mile creek going east. It is my belief George Kellogg had the post office in his home near there and that the community name moved with the post office.

Thomas Woodward/Woodard was a half breed Cherokee who lived at Woodward Town.
