I descend from both Josiah and Richard Hendon as a result of a marriage of first cousins William Hendon and Lydia Hendon.
Some Hendon geneologies list a Julias (sic) Williams who married Council Sapp. Rackley-Sapp records show my great grandmother as Julia M. Williams. The Decatur County Ga. Marriages 1824-1945 Bride Index incorrectly shows the spelling Counsel Sapp. The first name Council/Counsel has no proved connection to the family name Counsell; however, the various relocations of these families is similar and both familes were in SE NC at similar times.

I called a Bryant cousin who is 81 years young to ask her about her grandfather's family with his 1st wife, when she named the children she knew about, there were three, Uncle Ed, Uncle John and Aunt Sallie, then she told me she used to write to someone in Aunt Sallie's family years ago in TEXAS. I knew then that I had found the correct Sarah L. Bryant. Thank You!!

I am researching the people buried in a cemetery behind the building I own. Seems I live in what was "Whitefield, Mississippi" The town is long gone and it became "Sturgis, Mississippi" About the only thing remaining of Whitefield is a cornerstone (I believe to be from a church). You can find a photo of the church minister (who fought during the Civil War in the 1st Mississippi artillery Regiment I Bowman Battery). I heard stories years ago about the Hendon's and how they sailed to Baltimore from England. The tree was researched by my Aunt Jean, wife of Paul Hendon, of Wiley and Effie Hendon, born in Texas and moved to Oklahoma.
I even found my grandfather's twin brother Dee, who my father was named after and I was named after my dad.
My Great Uncle Dee, went to work one day and never was seen again. My grandfather saved money and would go looking for him. He did this several times over the years until he died. I saw that he died (Great Uncle Dee) in Texas at the age of 40. I will try to get more info on his death. Just curious.
I noticed some gaps on my side of the tree with my cousins and other family members. I'll get info and pass it on.
