I married Gerald Benny Scriven, who goes by Jerry, and love reading all this Scriven stuff. Our son is Christopher Michael Scriven and there sure are a lot of Christophers, especially in England. Our daughter, Christi-Ann Michaela Scriven, took pictures of the hamlet of Scriven in England when she was stationed in London in the U. S. Navy.

I live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. According to my Grandmother (Doris Evelyn Scriven), my Grandfather (William Ralph Scriven -- b.1919,d.1987) had "Scriven" relatives in the United States -- I think somewhere in Minnesota or Washington State??? I really don't know much else about my Scriven roots, other than the fact that my grandparents lived in Saskatchewan their whole life. My Grandpa Ralph's only brother (Charles Russell Scriven) was a bachelor his whole life and died a few years ago. My father is Rodney Charles Scriven (b.1952) and my son is Jacob Charles Scriven (b.1999).

Hi! This is a great Website for the Scriven and related families. Clarina Jane Scriven Gee (b 1842) is my ggg grandmother. She was the daughter of Matthias Scriven (b 1800) and Martha Wiggins (b 1805).
I have a photo that some family members say is Matthias Scriven (b 1800), Clarinda's father, and some say is Benjamin Henry Scriven (b 1841). (Benjamin Henry's daughter Dora Mae married a Gee relative also). If anyone would be interested in helping me determine for sure who this photo is I can E-mail it to you.
Thanks again for this very informative site.

According to my aunt, my grandfather was a Scriven--but changed his name, adding an "s" after his 10th child. We have a lot of dry humor in our family, so maybe that story is apocryphal.
I teach English in high school and recently came across a middle English Scotch ballad, "Sir Patrick Spens," in which the word "scriven" is used as a verb. Our name is apprarantly one of those derived from occupations.
