I am in pursuit of information regarding any familial pancreatitis in the Webb family. The disease apparently came through Sarah Webb, born 1830, Tennessee, who married Thomas Yearout. They had a daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Yearout, my grandmother, who married Robert P. Ridings. I always thought the disease came through the Ridings family, but, at a Yearout reunion, I found Webb family members had the disease, therefore, I'm thinking it came through Nancy's mother, Sarah Webb. Any info you can provide would be helpful.

My gg-grandfather was William Douglas Webb, b @1813 somewhere in NJ, died 1896 in Marion County, Alabama. He's my brick wall. Born in New Jersey of an Indian mother, he ran away to sea at age of 14. Stayed at sea 14 years, debarked at Mobile, AL. In 1842, he is on record marrying Louisa H. Boyd, in Tuscaloosa, AL. He lost track of his New Jersey family, but late in life corresponded with "old maid sister," who told him his father "married again and raised up a whole new family." William had 4 brothers who "went West," and "a bunch of sisters." Am trying to track his NJ family. Thanks. Love your site.

You have wonderful web pages, especially the photos. I was attracted to your sight because I have Webbs and McCormicks. My Webbs appear to have arrived in the mid 1600's and moved on the Maine.
The McCormicks are my roadblock. My mother's grandfather (Robert McCormack) died in a railroad accident in the Chicago area in 1916 when he was 31 years old. All that anyone living can remember is that they "think" his people were from PA and then moved on to McHenry Co., IL. If I come across anything relative to your families, I'll pass it on.

Hi
I'm searching for information on 4 Webb men. My Mother refered to them as her Uncles and I believe they were half brothers to my Grandmother Ada Lee (Sherrill)Corey,
Their Mother's name would have been: Catherine Sherrill;by her 1st marriage to Isaac N. Sherrill(he died in 1880). I believe she then married a man named "Webb"and had at least three more children; May Bell (married name 'Smith' I think) and two sons;Charles F. Webb - B:24 March 1885 and John F. Webb - B:8 Feb 1888. The other two Webb men must be the sons of one or both of the above two. I have pictures of these two and they appear to be about my Mothers age. These two were named; Harry Webb and Haywood Webb.
The Mother; Catherine lived in Indiana when my Grandmother was born but she later moved to Putnam County, Missouri.
Catherine is my Great Grandmother and all I have on her is her B: 11 May 1845 and D: 27 August 1895. I'm trying to find the Webbs in hopes of also finding Catherine's maiden name. Hoping that maybe "Haywood Webb" is an unusual enough name that it may be possible to find him. They would not be alive now but their descendant Webbs are out there somewhere and I have several nice photos of them.
Haywood and Harry must have lived in the St, Louis, Missouri area because my Mother grew up there and the photos were taken there. Any help in finding these Webb men would be greatly appreciated!

I am researching a James Webb, born in MA about 1802, later moved to Jefferson Co., Ny. He lived in Alexandria and Orleans township. I found your Erastus born 1820 in Henderson. I have been trying to find some siblings of James Webb, have many probabilities but no direct proof of any relationships. My James Webb and his family (James Jr, Merritt, Edmund, Innes and Marietta) moved to Sheboygan Co, WI by 1850. The similariy of Erastus moving to Wi about the same time. Perhaps James Sr. could have been Erastus' uncle. Do you have any information on his father? Webb has turned out to be a much more common name than I imagined! Plus many people were moving to Wi at that time, so could be pure coincidence. Just curious if you had any other info.
Sincerely,
Debbie Mills

Nancy Webb was his daughter by his second wife, Catherine Stribling, and married her step-brother, Henry Terry, Jr. The Striblings were a prominent Virginia family intermarried with the Catletts and Taliaferros. My paternal grandmother was Elizabeth A. Buffington. Her father Franklin Abraham Buffington, Abraham Buffington, his father, was the son of Joel Buffington and his mother was Elizabeth Logan. Joel was the owner of Buffington Island which is now a State Park in Ohio. Joel's Father was William Buffington, mother Magdalena Ferree. Thomas Buffington, William's Father was married to Ruth Cope. The first Buffington to come to America was Richard, Thomas Father, he came over in 1675. Ann Frances was Richard's first wife. The Buffington's were Quakers. Richard becames a Calvinist in 1699 but Thomas remained a Quaker. Later William moved to Virginia and owned slaves for a short period as did his sons. I have a lot of information about this line and others if your interested I would be happy to share. My Buffington's start in Pennsylvania 1675. They move to Virginia which changes to West Virginia. Buffington Island, while they lived there was part of West Virginia and Ohio. The State eventually takes the land for a park refusing to believe Joel was the owner. I have searched for years to find where William and Joel are buried but I believe they are buried on the island and the location has been lost. My line then moves to Ohio then Jefferson, Illinois. I was told my 2nd great grandfather was Philip Buffington but I've never found proof of that. I only have a marriage for Philip. Abraham's second wife list Joel as a legal heir of Abraham when she sells property after his death to pay debts. My great grandfather Joel had moved to Missouri with his wife Elizabeth Gaston after their last child was born, about 1850. They settled in South Eastern Missouri.
Hope I can help. My son is getting married tomorrow but I'll be back on the trail of family in a few days.
