What a fantastic effort.
I can trace my fathers familly back to gt gt grandfather William b c1815 I have their son's (my gt grandfathers) birth cert. Shows his mother was Mary nee Silverwood. and she signed the cert with a X. Their son was John William. b 20.8.1849. At New Holme Cottage Warley. All the family came from around the Halifax area. Illingworth, Ovenden,Midgley and Warley.
Maybe a connection some where.
I've come to a halt at the moment. Waiting for new census records to be transcribed on 1837.com

This web site is excellent !
My gr. grandmother was Rhoda Varley from Wilsden.
Her parents were William and Mary (nee Cowgill).
I think William's parents may have been George and Mary, but not checked yet.
Rhoda married Thomas Varley Edmondson in Jan 1869 in Bradford. Their son Leonard is my father.
For so many Varleys to come from Wilsden, there must be a connection, here's hoping we can find it !

Through rootsweb e-mail that I receive all the time I found your site. My Sykes family as far as I know originated in and around Huddersfield. My great grandfather's father was a tanner by trade. I have no idea what his parents names were. His name was George Sykes born August 11, 1835. He came to America around age 21, which would make it about 1856. He married Augusta Brooks here in Nebraska. She too was born in England and came here with her parents as a young person. I am going to try to find out there may be a connection between your family history and mine. And yes you have a great site.
