need help tracing my Creel ancestory: facts known- my grandfahter, John Amon Creel(still living) was youngest child of John Robert Creel and Mary lee Simms Creel. He was from Cobb? co. Ga. She was from Al. probably Clay Co. John Robert had a previous marriage to Margaret Haynes, also believed to be from Ga. Margaret had a lung condition and the two moved to Ok., for a couple of years. They had 3or4 babies that died and one that lived. He was Curtis Creel. John Robert and Margaret moved back to either Ga. or Al. where she died. He then married Mary Lee Simms. John Robert Creel's father was Steve, Steven or Stephen Creel,probably from Cobb County(cherokee county originaly) Ga. His first marriage was to Rebecca(unknown last name) it is not clear what happened, if she died or they divorced. He then married Rebecca Higgins and they had 3 children. John Robert Creel, Lola Creel( married McCollum in Walker Co. Al.) and Queen Victoria Evan Creel(married Marshall Garrett and settled in Del Rio Tx.) I hope to complete my search and share it with my grandfather while I still can. Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

I enjoyed your Webpage. My GGGG greatparents were Thomas Joseph Creel (b. 1771) and Elizabeth Dearman (b. 1782). Their granddaughter, Jency Creel, married my GG grandfather, Claiborne Chatham.The original spelling of my surname was McVey; however, my grandfather, Walter L. McVeay,Sr. and his brother, Joseph McVeay, changed the spelling in 1918, as indicated in the 1920 census. Some of their siblings kept the original spelling of McVey and others changed it to McVay. It has proved a challenge to research my family tree because of this and also information posted to the Web with incorrect data regarding my paternal great and great-great grandfathers. My visit to your site was a wonderful and enlightening experience. Keep up the good work
