The postcards are a delight. The entire web site is as well. My gratitude to the webmaster!
I visited Aryshire in the spring of 2005...and had the opportunity to meet my cousins now living in Johnstone! Ayrshire is the home of several of my ancestors, as follows:
Andrew CHALMERS married Jean CRAIG 03 January 1765 at Ardrossan Parish in Dalry. Thier son, Andrew CHALMERS married Ann SIMPSON, 1803. Their daughter Jean CHALMERS was baptized 23 February 1806 in Dykeshead, Dalry.
Thomas MUNN (son of Alexander Munn and Isabel CRAIG) married Isabella Morris. Their son, James MUNN (b. 1802 in Dalry) married Jean CHALMERS of Dalry. Their daughter, Isabella MUNN (b. 1836 in Dalry) was my gg grandmother and married John Brocklebank in 1867. Both died and are buried in Johnstone.
From California's northwest coast, I found myself utterly at home on the Aryshire coast. Are there any other cousins of mine out there? I shall return for a visit in 2007.

I found the Maybole site full of interest and information. I have spent a few hours on the site today but it has been worth the time. I am the youngest great-grandchild of Robert Ferguson (b.1851 in Maybole) who emigrated to New Zealand on the ship "Timaru" in January 1875 with his his family. His parents were Sarah Graham and George Fergusson who were married in December 1851 in the U.P. Church by Rev. JM Thomson. They brought their remaining 9 children to NZ with them. The eldest son, Robert, met Cassie Crawford Tweedie in Dunedin, NZ, who had emigrated from Ireland, and they were married in November 1882. They had six children, the youngest girl being my mother. I will be 80yrs in 2006.

My name is Rebecca Farnes and I live in Honolulu, Hawaii USA. I am working on my family tree and found my great great great grandfather was born in Kilbirnie as well as his father. I'm wondering if I have any family still living in Scotland. The family surname is Craig.
My great great great grandfather was John Craig born September 24, 1811 and I show he married Mary Westley. They had 12 children. I believe they were living in Canada
when they married. John's father, James Craig was born in
1788 and married Helen Frue (Frew) - not sure of the spelling. Helen was born in 1785. I'm guessing that James and Helen were both born in Kilbirnie, had a son John and then moved to Canada. I'd like to know if James or Helen
had brothers and sisters and if I still have any living relatives living in Scotland.
Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

I was born in Low Glencairn Street,Kilmarnock in the early 1920s.My first school was the Grammar, whose entrance was either from Dundonald Road, or,Waterside St. I was then living in Mill Lane, which was situated between Clark St and Princess St. Kilmarnock, then a thriving town with much character, had a great deal of abject poverty, but living there then, brings back many happy memories, and some not so happy. Recently, I returned there on a visit, and was appalled to see how much of the original old Kilmarnock has been obliterated and replaced with a concoction of grotesque
- I suppose -of modern structures. The people responsible for this destruction should be held resposible for the deliberate vandalism of this, once proud and respected town, that used to bring many people from Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire for a day out, and do their shopping Those guilty people, were no more than legalised vandals, and, if still around, should be made to pay in one way or other, for their crazy folly in reducing auld Killie to a disgraceful shambles.

This is a very interesting and informative site, great work by the folks who have set it up.
I am interested in knowing if anyone has information on the family of Gavin (Guy) Lambie born about 1884 in Troon or nearby. His family was in the undertaking business and he, his wife Margaret, and family left Scotland in 1912 for Canada.

This site has been very informative and has helped my with numerous aspects of my research into the Morton family. My great grandmother was Janet Dykes Morton Stevenson and her mother was Christina Aton. Sadly I have come to a brick wall with Christina despite trying variations in spelling. Is there anybody out there in research land who has any information whatsoever regarding Christina Aton/Aiton/Aition/Ayton? I really would love to hear from you and it would make two Australian researchers from opposite sides of our continent very happy. Janet

My father's grandparents were William Bissett and Mary Brodie Black Bissett (spelled Bessit in the parish record), married at Closeburn Parish on New Year's Day in 1868.
I understand grandpa Bissett was buried at Closeburn Parish Churchyard in 1911 or about. The Bissetts had 10 children, my grandfather James Black Bissett was born in 1876 at Closeburn.
It has been wonderful to see the Closeburn Parish and the churchyard on the internet! I do see one Bissett name on a tombstone, which I can barely read. But it is a wonder to find photos of this site after so many years. Thank you!!

Good information. I'm sorry you do not have details about the relatives, i.e., my GGG Grandfather, Robert Graham, who married Jennie _____ in Ayrshire...? 1820 +?
Great Great Grandfather James B. was born in 1834 to Robert and Jennie ______ Graham, the youngest of nine.
Robert was also from a family of nine in Ayrshire and I do not have any information about the exact area, the date of his birth...est. 1800-1805.
My Grandfather (son of James), Clarence James Graham, visited relatives during WWI and he returned to visit relatives in 1952.
Any information about the family would be deeply appreciated.

Well, this is not the first time I have visited this site.
I think its very well done. I have long been a lover and a collector myself of old photos and postcards.
My family is in Irvine, I have enjoyed looking at the pictures of Irvine, as well as all the others. The older the picture the better, its great to see them. I will be visiting here again, my son has always had a facination with castles and I see there are many wonderful pics here for him to view. Keep up the good work, there are many who do and will appreciate all the work thats gone into this.
