Hi,
I need some help from your Camp concerning a cemetery outside of Elkins. I am a member of Dixie Camp #502 in Georgetown, Texas. My great-great grandfathers' brother was Benjamin Franklin Boone, a Lieutenant in Col. Brooks' 20th Regiment in the Arkansas Militia. Hi gravesite and family cemetery are a mess, and needs tending to and preserving. He also was an Arkansas Legislator and a prominent lawyer in Washington County. He died from wounds suffered in the Battle of Prairie Grove. PLEASE respond to my plea, I have no other contacts in the area. I have pictures of the sad shape of his gravesite, and will forward them once I receive a response.

Thank you,
David Boone

Dear fellow Civil War enthusiasts:

I am trying to contact as many Civil War scholars, descendents, and buffs as possible to let them know about my new novel, Bright Starry Banner, a recreation of the battle of Stones River (Murfreesboro). Please take a minute to visit either the publisher's site www.sohopress.com for a short preview or my www.aldencarter.com/BSB.htm for a longer one. I would appreciate it if you would pass this information on to your fellow Civil War enthusiasts. (If you have trouble with the links, cut and paste to your menu bar.)

A few brief review excerpts:

"Exquisite and graphic... For a depiction of war [Bright Starry Banner] is as good as it gets."
—Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“Rendered with the creative force that amounts to a sense of mission."
—Kirkus Reviews (starred)

“Crackles with action, suspense and drama. A must-read for Civil War buffs.ö —Booklist

“Carter brings…Civil War conflict to life [like] no novelist since Joseph Pennell.ö
—Peter Cozzens, No Better Place to Die: The Battle of Stones River

Best regards,
Al

The Carroll County Website lists extrations from the Green Forest Arkansas Tribune, August 19, 1910 issue which indicates United Confederate Veterans held their 19th Annual Reunion at the John G. Fletcher Camp No. 638. My ancestor, A.M. Bradshaw was listed as an ex-Confederate soldier in attendance. I have attempted to find information on this camp but have not been able to find anything on the internet. Has this camp been dissolved? If so why isn't there any history?
