Revived interest in family history with the passing of the last of my fathers siblings.
My Aunt, Connie Torbett was a memeber of the JNFS from its inception as well as a member of the Fellowship of First Fleeters. She passed away on 26/7/10 aged 95 and clear of mind. Just a lovely, lovely lady.

My father's mother's GF was Jesse Pugh Ward. His mother was Elizabeth Pugh. His father, Wm. Ward, Jr. and GF "Old William" were "Regulators" captured at Alamance Battlefield, NC by the Royal Governor's militia and forced to swear allegiance to the Crown and Colony or hang. They signed. Five others elected to hang, along with leader, James Pugh. This was several years prior to the uprising of the Sons of Liberty in Boston. James's family were Welsh Quakers who left Great Britain as indentured servants for Pennsylvania. They emigrated to North Carolina after being excommunicated. I have never met a living Pugh but am interested in fleshing out as complete a family tree as I can.

Im a descendant of John Nicholls - through the Kellick line. My grandfather was John Sydney Charles Kellick (born 23.8.1887)- married (26.10.1909) Louie Desaxe (born 26.10.1888). I am just starting to trace my family tree and I was delighted to 'stumble' on your site. I did know I was a descendant of John & Ann Nichols, but wanted to find more information on their lives.

John Nichols and Ann Pugh had John Pugh Nichols who married Rebecca Moss. They had a daughter (Ann Louisa Nichols born 11.1.1831) and she married John Bradney. Their 4th child was Emma Bradney born 1856 and she married John Wildman. They had a son in 1877 called George James Wildman who married Margaret Deitz. Their 9th born child was my mother Faith Doreen Wildman who married my father Lionel Alderman. Could you help me please? I'm seeking my ancestors in Essex, and have got back to Jonathan Nichols, a miller, one time resident in Hartest, Suffolk, who later called himself John on his sons (Walter's, my GGrandfather) Marriage Cert. Jonathan married Martha Kent on 13 Jul 1831, at Saffron Walden, Essex. Family talk of many years ago spoke of his father as another miller named John- and wealthy too! I have just found another Jonathan Nichols, born 7 Oct 1804, son of -guess what- John and Elizabeth Nichols at Loughton, Essex (now in London), who could fit as this father. According to the IGI they had children in Colchester in 1805 and 6.
With all these John/Jonathans in Essex, so close to London, could there be a connection?

We are searching our John Nichols line, which is said to be from Scotland. We haven't found our "Scotland" John, as yet, until he shows up in Iowa, USA (in 1860's) where he had several children including a John F, who married and had a John Joseph, who married and had my husband John.
