His father had a farm in Richill and his wife was formerly Frances Johnston.

I remember when I was first starting out and Raymond's transcriptions gave me the leg up that got me over some of my first brick walls. Since then, I have been similarly smitten by the obsession of trying to learn more & sharing what I have.
What a gig!

All information is well done. I just never seem to find a family that is researching the Holland family of Belfast. I know they were there and I know they built a house. Am unable to find where they are today as related to descendants. Would like to connect with someone that might be researching the Holland/Anderson family.

Thank you, I am researching the name Sweney in Armagh, Portadown and have found it very useful to use your resources you have so kindly shared. So far have only found William Sweney in Slater's 1845, but ther are also several possiblities in Griffiths Valuation taking spelling into acccount of course. While I know several of the family emigrated and the effects of the famine were great, I had hoped your links might provide more clues, but then they will for someon else, well done.

Dear Raymond,

When I first found your messages on Armagh archives, I could not believe my good luck. No one was providing such helpful comments and data. I began searching on your name and reading everyone of your messages, applicable or not. The major disappointment I found was that you were just changing your address at the time (Why are people like that?) and my e-mail would not reach you. Then your new site appeared with so much more helpful information, music, and links.

Thank you for starting the trend toward non-personal lists of people such as Presbyterian marriages in Banbridge in the 17?? period etc plus continuing the more personal surname searches in directories. After you showed the need and broke the way, many new and similar regional sites and services have been developed. We all owe a debt to you.

I was sorry to hear you were unable to continue receiving messages, and don't know the extent of your illness, but I wish you all the best.

Raymond, please get well soon. We miss you and wish you the best. If there is anything I can do to help you, please let me know. You have always been so generous with your knowledge and information. When I first joined these lists I remember that man who used to send things in when "the wife went to Bingo" and talked about fishing and things like that and wondered "who is this guy" but your sense of humour grew on me and I now miss it. You never admonished me when I asked for the same information again and again and to that I say thank you, you never told anyone to "go look it up yourself and to that I again say thank you. Please get well and hurry back.
