My Connection To New Brunswick My McGinn family started in N.B, approximately 1849.
Comments:
I posted several messages about a year ago, and want to mention my new email address is owenwmcginn@eastlink.ca.
Need a little help..My grandfather Walter G McGinn, married, in 1935, Marie Marguerite Elize LeBlanc. She was widowed in 1936. She then married Joseph Edmund Jean Richard, in 1946. Widdowed again, thence marring Ludovic Joseph Long, in 1947. I, have nothing more on her, [after that]. Could someone help me with a bit more information on her? lastly, she had a daughter, with Walter McGinn, named Yvette, born in 1936. I, would appreciate any assistance, from anyone, helping me to locate Yvette, or with some information about her. I, tried to track her down, and noticed that a Yvette Richard, appeared about 1952 !! I, wonder if Yvette McGinn , may have been adopted by Jean Richard, thus eliminating the McGinn surname..
I would be so appreciative of any help !! Incidentally, any response could bewritten in French, as well as in English..Thank's Owen McGinn

Comments:
I'm doing research for a friend, and the lineage hits a brick wall at William McKeague, born May 12, 1839, BushMills (or thereabouts), near Belfast. He emigrated to NB in 1859, and married Margaret MacAllister, daughter of Archibald & Mary in 1863. From there, I've got lots of info', but anything that could assist in "finding William's past" will be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for information about the surname TODD. In 1840 of Hodgdon, Maine, Alfred TODD (my relative) is on the census with his wife, Mary TOWNE of Augusta, Maine and their children. According to the census, Alfred and their oldest son, Lorenzo TODD were born in New Brunswick. Mary and Alfred were also married in New Brunswick. I have no other proven information. I have been told that Alfred's father's name could be Mix TODD. I have no information on any siblings for Alfred either.

This is a wonderful site. Thank you for all of your work in putting it together.

My Connection To New Brunswick Fitzsimmons, Palmer, Hendrickson, Fraser
Comments:
My name is Penny Brown. I am tracing my family history of my ancestors. The Fitzsimmons, James and Mary A. L. (Cox) Fitzsimmons and his father William Fitzsimmons. All that I know is that they were granted close to 100 acres of land in the California Settlement in the 1880's. Where they were from before The California Settlement is still a huge question to me, however, I saw a notation somewhere that they were Irish out of Johnsville? I need to find out where they were from before The California Settlement, NB Canada... Ireland? I do know that after they left The Cal. Settlement they moved to the Caswell Plantation, Maine around 1890's, 1900's... but unfortunately about half of the family died from a rapidly spreading disease in the early 1900's. Also, they had a granddaughter by the name of Beatrice Palmer....I do not know her mothers name or what happened to her..... if anyone has any information or questions, i can be reached at buddabean@sbcglobal.net

Thank you.

Penny

I am soooo happy that I found your page

http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nbpast/family/begin/E-1.htm

on this site. As far as I can tell, nearly all of the
Earles mentioned down at the bottom under "Misc Notes"
are my direct ancestors - Michael (and Sarah) Earl is my
Great-Great-Great-Grandfather; John Earl(e) is my Great-Great-Grandfather, and Thomas Valentine Earle is my
Great-Grandfather. My family lived in and around Kars,
Tennants Cove, and the Kingston area from the time that
Michael and Sarah Earl came to New Brunswick (apparently
as "Kingston Loyalists" from Massachusetts(? - or maybe
New Jersey, but we were told Massachusetts) in 1783,
until my Grandfather (Beverly Smithson Earle) moved the
family back down to Massachusetts in/around 1920 (guess
they figured the coast was clear by then, and a Loyalist
could sneak back into Massachusetts).

Sophia Mott Speedy was my grandmother's, who was the "baby" of 15 siblings, oldest sister. She was the only sibling to stay in Canada, in McAdam/Harvey area. She was w/o Dan Speedy. Francis Carvell recently deceased was the last surviving niece of this line.
Some descendants are still in the area. I would be interested in any information and/or contact with remaining family members.

I wonder if anyone can offer a little help in finding out what ship the following arrived in N.B
My GGRANDFATHER, John Thomas McGinn, born Ireland, 1849,
arrived in N.B.[ AS I HAVE BEEN TOLD] IN 1859. He arrived with a brother George who was about 2-3 years old. I am certain there was a sister arriving with the two boys.
Both men married and lived in Moncton city. I have told the sister died giving birth to a son, Irvin, who was born as a BURKE, but who took the name of McGinn. [ He was known as Irvin Burke McGinn]. At any rate I am trying to find out if they arrived as three children, alone, or if they were accompanied by their parents, or parent. Perhaps by a relative. If I could locate the ship, perhaps I would be able to see if there was a passenger list , listing these people. I would appreciate any help available. Thank You Owen McGinn.

In 1935, my grandfather Walter Gordon McGinn married Marie Marguerite Elize Leblanc in Moncton N.B.He died in 1936. They had one daughter Yvette, born in 1936. Marie Marguerite remarried in 1946 Jean Joseph Edmond Richard, from Dorchester Parish, Westmorland Co. The girl Yvette is my half aunt, and I wish to know if anyone has any knowledge of her.I would appreciate any help. In a will I saw she and her mother [ Marie] were living in a place called Humpries Flats, no doubt in the 30's.Since Marie was a Leblanc, from Westmorland Co, and since there are numerous Leblanc's in that area, perhaps a reader would have access to work done on the Leblanc's by genealogists. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who could offer any assistance. Thank You Owen McGINN,

Hi:

I've not yet read the guest book nor studied this site in detail but, from what I've seen,I feel pretty sure I'm going to enjoy the site and return often.

Tho' American-born, I attended school, Grade 2 in Truro NS, and the rest thru High School (Voc') in Saint John, graduating in 1942. I've "lived in" Louisiana for most of the past 50 years (at the other end of the Evangeline story!) but no matter where I live or visit, New Brunswick (Saint John in particular) is "up home" to me!

My Connection To New Brunswick Hanselpacker family
Comments:
I found your site nicely informative, though lacking in exactly what I was seeking. Should anyone happen to have information on the Hanselpackers of New Brunswick, of any generation, I would love to hear from you. I'm putting together as comprehensive a database of Hanselpackers and Handspikers that I can manage, in hopes of showing many more lines than have previously been acknowledged.

Cheers!
