My great-grandmother was Hulda Ratliff McAnear. It is a matter of fact that she died in the TX state mental hospital. Her commitment papers said that at least three others in her family were also mentally ill. Do you have any information or family history about that subject?
Also, I have most of the info on Hulda's line; happy to share as it is in a GEDCOM file.

Hi! I'm the grandaughter of Sallie Elizabeth Ratliff Smith through Bernice Smith Crampton Martin. Recently I've been researching our Family Heritage. I have several old pictures of the family including Sally Womack as a young girl and as a woman. I read your story of Hard Times on the Plain. According to my grandmother her father "Achy" Ratliff took the trip in the middle of winter because her mother was real sick and they needed medical supplies. According to Grandma her father was part blackfoot Indian and her mother was of Jewish descent. Is there any validity to these claims. I would like to E-mail you the photos I have of the family.
